Dear Jacky, Please see, a website we started to find other victims for a class action lawsuit against eBay. I had done other large transactions on eBay in the past for expensive wrist watches by wiring funds and had no problems. Fortunately, I copy all transaction pages and e-mails through "Ask Seller a Question" to .pdf files, which in this case shows information tampering by eBay after my dispute was initiated. Good Luck CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

thanks Port. if you check carefully in the ebay sales of luxury watches, probably 9 out of 10 sales are not done by paypal. probably it is because of the high costs. the emails were through ebay's system. the hijacking means even the authentic email account is hijacked. I remember I first sent the email in ebay to confirm the bidding, then the 'fake' seller started replying my email in ebay system.

Never wire funds to pay for an eBay purchase. That is a dead giveaway that it's a scam. If you use PayPal, at least you have some kind of protection. This is not eBay's fault, it's the fault of the scammers/thieves. I'm sorry you were scammed. It has happened to others I've known -- same story, they demanded a wire transfer of funds.

If the seller's account was hijacked, as Ebay claims, then how does that explain the seller's email? He would've gotten the email that the item was won, you were the high bidder, and then he would've invoiced you, which would've gone to your 'MyEbay' page. There is something very fishy here. From what you're saying, it's not possible that the seller's account was hijacked... unless the email was changed as well, did you verify that the email was the same one this seller has been using all along?

Hi Dave thank you for your reply. it is through ebay account. The email was sent to and from ebay. The website I bid is ebay.com. ebay had all the records of the transaction. but once I reported the fraud it just said the seller account was hijacked. so what it meant was I went through the normal and authentic procedures on ebay. the problem was the seller was not the 'real seller'. so how could I avoid? not me, there are totally five victims who did the same thing. And one seller whose account was hijacked was a 'power seller' who had hundreds of positive feedback. how could this be avoided?

You THOUGHT it was done thru Ebay, but in reality it was a sophisticated web site that looks like ebay. Did you receive the seller's invoice and email in YOUR EBAY ACCOUNT (MyEbay)? Or did you receive the invoice in your regular mail? If you didn't get it in your MyEbay account, then it is fraud, if you did, then the seller is lying and his account wasn't hijacked.

Referring to the consumer comment from the person in Florida, I would like to emphasize that the transaction was done within ebay, NOT outside. And the money was remitted NOT through western union. I executed this particular fraudulent transaction exactly what I did before on ebay. Bid through auction, a legitimate seller account, checked all the feedbacks, closed the transaction in ebay etc. But the seller I intended to deal with was not the real seller. How would I know?

It's plastered all over their site, BEWARE OF FRAUD! They have tips on how you can spot a fraudulent transaction. Generally, anytime you are told to use Western Union for payment, it is definately a fraud. Never do a transaction unless it's thru Ebay period. Never through email. If the transaction is a good one, you will get the information about it in your Ebay mailbox as well as your private email. If it's not in your Ebay box, then that person is trying to rip you off. There are other ways to spot a fraud. You need to read up on it.

Why is ebay at fault for someones account being hijacked? your grievance is with the person who hijacked the account, not ebay.
