Ecocolors manufactures a highly toxic, highly carcinogenic permanent professional hair color for professional hair stylists and for at home use.
Ecocolors irresponsibly and incorrectly markets its product in the following ways:

Ecocolors knows, or should know, that their products are highly toxic, highly carcinogenic, and are completely unsafe for use on an human beings much less the sensitive scalps of pregnant women or cancer survivors.

This is one of the most toxic and dangerous hair colors I have ever come across on the market, and yet they market it directly to pregnant women and cancer survivors! Even teenagers know how dangerous Resorcinol and PPD's are yet this irresponsible company is pushing hair stylist to pour it on the heads of their clients and tell them not to worry about any toxins or carcinogens because it is 100% safe and organic.
Someone please file a class action lawsuit against this company, its owner, and every salon or hairstylist that has ever used it on their clients scalp! Stop this madness!

I believe this report is overstating the issue just a little - and that is sarcasm. I am incredibly particular about the products I use and this one seems fine to me.
I would just like to say that EcoColors is very up front about their use of PPD and other chemicals and they plainly state on their website that the dosage levels are nontoxic, although the chemicals themselves can be toxic.
Also, they do not use ammonia, as listed in the ripoff report. They use aqua ammonia or ammonium hydroxide, which is non-toxic. The resorcinol they use is also non-toxic methyl-resorcinol.
This report makes it sound as though L'oreal suddenly switched their labeling to "all natural" and didn't tell anyone. I think compared to many hair coloring products out there, this one is not that bad. To suggest filing a class action suit against them is ridiculous in my opinion.
You can get good scientific safety data from the skin deep database, data that is far more accurate than the malarkey being promoted here.

I'm just coming across this, having recently started to research the dangers of hair dyes. When looking at an ad for Ecocolors, they were up-front about the ingredients they use (and the fact that PPD in particular is controversial.)
They were highlighting the fact that quantities matter and that they use much lower amounts of these dangerous chemicals in their dyes than other companies. It struck me as reasonable, although they provided no statistics re: safe levels/studies, etc.
But the report against Ecocolors didn't seem to mention the issue of possible safe levels at all. Are there studies...and what do they say?

I have to say that after seeing this report I began researching EcoColors deeply, and am once again horrified with what I found.
I have never used EcoColors in my salon, but I have had it used on me before. I didnt notice any adverse reaction, so I just assumed that it was a decently non-toxic product. After looking into the ingredients list, it is shockingly toxic.
I dont understand how companies in the organic hair color market continue to advertise their products as being PPD, ammonia, and sulfate free when it CLEARLY CONTAINS ALL OF THESE! As shown by the ingredients list! Yet they are allowed to market it whatever way they please! They name it "Eco"-whatever and market it to us as safe, for an increased price, and it is the same product!
WE NEED TO BOYCOTT ECOCOLORS AND MASTEY, BOTH COMPANIES ARE GROSSLY MISREPRESENTING THE SAFETY OF THEIR PRODUCTS!!!
