I stumbled upon this site after some questionable contact with Mr Simon Smith

After dealing with him personally I am not suprised to see Mr Smith's pushy and defensive post below. It is reminiscent of my own experience with him.

1) No contactable references were given. All these 'glowing' references but I wasn't able to speak to any. Other PI agencies happily gave me one or two numbers to call.

2) He refused to make a contract and instead provided 'quotes' which were alot less than the invoices that he provided me with after.

3) His Victorian PI license number is hard to find (I actually couldn't find it online at all)

He was very quick to upsell his service to 'mediation' which meant that I was being pushed to fork out tens of thousands more than the inital 'quote' he provided.

As for his 'hardline mediation' he is very good until he reaches someone who is smart that will just hang up or ignore him. Mr Smith cannot provide any real threat. Then once he realises that he can't do anything will ask for thousands and thousands of dollars to hire a lawyer on your behalf - something that any intelligent consumer like you can do yourself.

At this stage I was forced to let go because it was clearly obvious that Mr Smith couldn't actually do anything apart from the initial data recovery which I asked him to. All his other upsold services (mediation, sending letters, etc.) were of no use.

I can believe both sides of the old complaint and the rebuttals. He can help with some things.

As for the drug offenses Mr Smith has responded to in his rebuttal he has failed to acknowledge that drug usage is treated very differently to drug trafficking/ cultivating. I found that quite clever of him to omit. As for the media references, I fail to see him as a repeat expert on any show, let alone a 'top expert.'

If you do have tens of thousands to spend, or have a pesky ex/ stalker that you want to get rid off, or need some data recovery done then Mr Smith can help.

If you still wish to work with Mr Smith, then I recommend that you sign a contract on what services he is going to provide instead of getting a nasty shock when he sends you his final invoice.
