We didn't live that far away so we went to Monterey Ca, (around cannnery row) for our anniversary impromptu on Dec 27, for one night. We found a nice hotel but it was all booked up for that weekend, went to another and the same thing... so i checked out Expedia.com on my smart phone and called the number. I was linked up with someone named Mark who spoke very broken english so it was hard to understand him with his Indian accent. He checks out his computer and finds what he calls a four star hotel in the general area where we were, so I said ok. I should have known something was wrong when he said NO REFUNDS and NO Cancellations!! When we got to the Pacific Inn on Fremont St. we found it was being renovated with a few rooms available. there was dust and dirt everywhere. The room Mark booked was supposed to have a King Size bed, and it did BUT there was no card key for the door so the manager had to let us in and out of the room whenever we wantedd to leave!!! We said NO WAY !! %$#**+!!@# Get us another room! They did ONLY after that exchange of explicits. It had two queen beds, and after a while inside you could smell the scent of the dirty rugs that had been masked by odorant of some sort. Well... we tried to make the best of our stay, no continiental breakfast as was promised just coffee. The woman at the front desk was nice but don't trust the guy, I had to get my husband to do the explicits to get the other room. I dont fault the hotel but I do EXPEDIA!! They charged almost double for the room  $119  ~ $50 more than original (I found out later). I DO NOT TRUST EXPEDIA -- NEVER AGAIN!!
