Do NOT use EzRentList.com under any circumstances! Do not give them your money!

They are a total scam!

They charge $60 for 90 days of access to their listings. They claim that their listings are current. They claim that if you don't find an apartment after the 90 days, or find an apartment on your own, you're entitled to a full $60 refund. They also claim that you won't have to pay for additional credit checks -- they provide the credit report to landlords for you!

These claims are ALL FALSE!

Their listings are useless. I contacted one landlord who said, quote, "EZ Rent List is doing a disservice to its customers and me!" That room had been filled THREE WEEKS AGO. Yet on their website, it was posted as "new" as of 5:44 PM yesterday. The landlord said he's been trying to get his listing off their site but he's still getting calls! I looked even closer at their website and found a duplicate listing for the same apartment!

Their refund policy is misleading too. You can't get your full $60 back, even though I confirmed TWICE with the sales rep on the phone about the amount (prior to purchasing the service, that is). But if you look at their contract, you can only get a refund minus a $50 service fee! They pretend to be "generous" and offer a $30 refund (50%) if you can prove their service didn't help you, after 90 days.

As for the credit checks, for some suspicious reason, landlords don't seem to want to accept EzRentList's credit report. Every listing I saw, the landlord required an additional credit check fee.

I very quickly realized I had been scammed and immediately called customer service and asked to cancel my account and get a refund. They refused. They gave me an e-mail address to contact their refund manager. This person was cold, inflexible, and refused to work out any kind of solution with me.

Furious, I demanded that SOMETHING be worked out or I was going to tell everyone I knew what kind of shaddy business they were running here. Again, he refused to cooperate at all, in any way.

My $60 is a small drop for a business. Pennies. Meaningless. But to me, that $60 goes a lot farther; that's rent money, groceries, a utility bill.

Yet even at the risk of bad PR and horrible customer satisfication, they refused to bend or budge at all.

But maybe it makes sense. Maybe people are catching on to the fraud and scam that they are. Maybe they're about to go out of business and they're trying to rip off as many people as possible.

DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!

SAVE YOUR MONEY -- BOYCOTT EZRENTLIST.COM!

Please feel free to forward this on to your friends, family, and anyone you know who might be looking for an apartment. We've got to look out for each other -- my $60 is gone, but there's still a chance for the rest of us!

Thank you.

EZ RENT LIST-CHECK YOUR CREDIT!

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, February 20, 2006

I went through the same thing with EZ Rent List AND Westside rentals (search for them on here). The only advice I have for you having already been scammed is this: Check your credit report. You know how checking your credit report more than x amount of times per year makes your credit go down? Well, they (EZ RENT LIST) checked a friend of mine's more than a few times and took some points off his credit. Be careful. When you give them permission to check your credit, it doesn't only mean once.
