I have had such a bad time with Fifth Third Bank. I not only owed them over 6oo dollars but they came back within a week and stated I owed them over $1400. My account had went back to Fifth Third and back again to Stephens and Michaels. I tried to get them to explain...I received NO answers. I finally thought I had it settled. yes, I paid ALL that money and not even knowing what for. I can only assume it was because I didn't have insuance for a period of time on my car. I had to make June's payment $569.42 in advance, too. Today, I get a NEW book in the mail. The payments aren't the required 365.72 per month but $569.42 and the book starts at June. ( the payment I made last month) June, July, Aug, Sept is for $569.42 and then in Oct it goes back to my regular amount of 365.72. My insurance has faxed all documents stating proof of insuarce. Why are they still charging me? How long do they keep the insurance on my car even though I have my own insurance? I don't know what to do anymore. I still owe too much on the car to pay it off, and still unemployed. I try and try to speak to someone at the 800 number. They are rude and THEY DON'T CARE! If anyone knows what I can do, a suggestion etc please let me know. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. I'm not sure which I'll loose first-----my car, house, or MIND!
It'll Be Ok

Hi, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. It's bad enough to lose your job but to have this too really sucks. Fifth Third does have a disputes department for consumer loans. You can ask for that department. If they won't give you the 800# I will see if I can round it up around here. Now, about how to resolve this. Ask the agency what specifically they are trying to collect from you. If it is, in fact, the past due payment, I would suggest making copies of the 3 payments and faxing them and a copy of the history from your branch showing they have been applied to the agency as well as sending them certified mail (where they have to sign for it) with a letter to them stating "here are the payments, here they are applied" stop harrassing me. I know it stinks, but keep everything. Don't be afraid to ask for supervisors. The insurance issue is a bit trickier. You said that you were not insured for a period of time. I know that if they get wind of a cancelled insurance policy, VSI insurance is force placed on the account. It is very expensive. That is why you got the new coupon book. I am fairly certain the only way to get the insurance removed is to get ahold of someone and have them tell you when the coverage period is. In order to get it removed, you will most likely have to show proof of insurance from that time period. If you have had a good payment history and made 3 payments recently, you might look at doing a skip a month if you are financially struggling. Check and see what the qualifications are for it, it may help. I hope my response helps.
