Fingerhut Credit Advantage ripoff false credit report information St. Cloud Minnesota
I had an account with fingerhut credit advantage up until April 2001. I paid the account off and requested that it be closed, only to find out on my credit report as of now October 2004, that it states I have a debt that was included or discharged through bankruptcy chapter 7, 11, or 12, and I have never filed bankruptcy in my life.
I have not used this account since April 2001 and three years later this is showing up on my credit report. I wrote them in April 2003 asking for the false information to be taken off my credit report. They wrote me back on May 13, 2003 stating that in 30-60 days the credit bureaus would update my records, and it still has not been done. I have copies of my last statement and the letter they wrote me to prove that I don't owe them anything.

You need to dispute this bad mark on your credit with the credit bureaus. Send them copies of what you have showing the account was paid off and closed and advise them that Fingerhut is refusing to take it off of your credit report. Include copies of any correspondence to and from the company, especially anything indicating that the account was disputed and if they agreed to take care of the matter in writing. Good luck.
