Fingerhut plain and siimply does not abide by the Fair Credit Act. Nicole in Credit says it doesnt matter as does her trainer Joan Henning. Im sorry but it does. six weeks or so ago I was contacted and told I qualified for their reevolving credit line if I just sent them proof of address since we had moved. I imediatley sent them my water bill via scannned email, something they had no leegal right to if II was not approved. I never heard anything. When I called and complained they said I was declined, however their employee already said I met all requirements. three weeks later, yesterday I receive a letter saying my application was still pending "incomplete information" the letter datee was Nov 27th, so I clled and snippy Nicole sid it didnt matter because heer computer said I was declined Nov 26th. How couuld this be if my letter from them was dated Nov 27th? She bluntly said she didnt care who called me promising what or what letter I received if her computer says declined Nov 26th the law be damned her computer screen trumped all. I asked to speak to a supervisor, thy dont work at night she said. How do I appeal? You can waste your time and send an email to [email protected] said.

So I sent a long letter including all of my information as well as copiies of their lettter and a December water bill. I copied three top execs to be sure it received the proper attention. I also added that I expected the offer originally made over the phone by their rep seeking residence proof. I added I hope you wouldnt take thee opportunity to punish me by offer some very small credit line for ttaking it to Senior Management when I was told it would be enough for the bed I was seeeking.

Today I received a message,"this iis Kellly please call me back so we can get your account set up. When I did I got Christine who made me this wonderful offer, punitive and NOT what their original rep offered me on tthe phone when shee said I met ALL requirements", but rather a lower tier program where I seend them $30 when it clers their system I then havee a big credit liine of $200. Obviousleey not what I wwas ttold on the phone I qualified for and cell phone bills will prove the call. I will now bee filling a Fair Credit Act complaint as tthey not have not abided by the letter of the law much less the spirit of it. It will be a no brainer an attorney friend told me and the penalty can bbe as much as $5,000. I beleiive any company with over 500 Rip Off Report complaaints wwill be judged harshly and the $5,000 would be inline. I have maade attempts to contact those who could clean up the situation there but all but one has been ignored. However one VP did receive the latter and therefore Fingerhut is aware of the issue so as they ignore it they just look worse to any judge. Anyone else with this type of complaint who would like to join mmy complaint it will only stregthen the case and it is  $5,000 dollar fine per episode. so if enough of us follow through as in class action suit it could brinng them to real justice, something Nicole laughed at.
