Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I've been fixing and painting an investment condo. No matter how low I set the AC control, temp doesn't go lower that 78 to 82. I called another AC company for a 'tune up'. Very nice tech tried everything, but said there was a faulty valve on the compressor and also recommended replacing the condenser. I had, the night before, received a call from First American asking me to renew my policy which I did with my credit card per their request.

Since I had a warranty with them, I told the other AC tech that I felt that I should contact them. When their tech came out, he asked me what was wrong, then he proceeded to make it sound like it was my fault. (the other tech was on the roof 3 times, the First Amer tech never looked at the unit, he was only in my house pointing his thermometer and talking)

He said that the AC couldn't cool more that 20 degrees from what it is outside. Said that I couldn't have the blinds open, even though there was no sun shining through the window (it was in the morning), and told me that I should keep my condo as dark as possible.

He told me that if I kept everything closed up and quit going in and out, it would have a chance to cool down and told me that the thermostat should be left at 75. I only leave it at 75 when I am not there, the rest of the time I turn it WAY down to try to get it cooler. After working inside again today, with all the blinds closed and windows covered, it still would not go below 80. The tech didn't seem to believe that I had been working like that for weeks and could not get the temp down, even though another company said that there was a problem.

He ended up telling me that if he did go ahead and replace what the other company said to replace, that it would cost me over $800.00. He was there for so long, I finally told him (twice), that I had a lot of work to do and needed to get busy if he wasn't going to do anything, he continued talking!!

When I call First American, they said they would send the same tech out if there was a problem. I told them that he insisted that there wasn't a problem, and that I didn't want him in my house again! He wasted about an hour of my time, only to frustrate me. I told them that I wanted to cancel my warranty, they said that I would have to write a letter and fax it to them. They wouldn't give me any information on what they would actually charge me if the repairs (which the tech said I didn't need) were made!! Very frustrating, total wast of time and money. They shouldn't be allowed to be in business.
