I took my car into Frank Hyundai to have a check engine light problem diagnosed. They came back with a report that said I needed a MAF Airflow Sensor. The sensor was $427.11 and the installation was $120+

Discuraged with the cost of the sensor I left without having them do the work. I also wanted to try and find the part wholesale myself and install it through my personal mechanic.

My sixth sense kicked in and I took the car to Drew Ford in La Mesa California. They told me that the sensor was under warranty and they actually replaced it in about 30 minutes without making a new appointment. Thus saving me over seven hundred dollars in repairs that would have been a rip off at Frank Hyundai in National City. Thanks to Ishmaiel at Drew Ford I saved seven hundred dollars.

Sorry for the poor explicatives. The car is a 1999 Hyundai Sonata. Frank Hyundai and Drew Ford are both Hyundai dealers. The interesting thing with this warranty is that it did not fall under the 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. It fell under the warranty that was good for 6 years 60,000 miles that is for speciffic items related to the emissions system in particular. Hyundai decided to warranty this part because of its excessive expense as was explaned to me by Drew Fords representative. I think the warranty is pretty cool. But for future referrence remember that there are some pretty expensive parts on hyundai's. Quite often you can get them for up to 75% less on the web. Even genuine Hyundai parts. Bill

I got lost here. You took a car to Hyundai, then you took it to Ford. Those are 2 entirely different dealerships. Did you buy a used Ford at the Hyundai dealership? Ford won't replace a Hyundai part under a warranty. Same goes for Hyundai, they won't replace a Ford part.
