I am a former "victim" of GC's harrassment, as are my parents (through my initial dealings). They are going to continue to bug you until you do the following: 1. Get their name, address, phone number, person(s) you spoke with 2. Send them a letter, certified with a return receipt requesting that they cease from phone calls altogether, including friends, family, neighbors, etc.. and that all future correspondence should be in writing. Give them a few days after receiving the letter to process it and take action on their side. You can also include a request for validation of the debt. 3. Any phone calls up to the point they stop calling can/should be recorded by you. GC records their phone calls, but they may not tell you that, as happened in my past experience (see the posting from Amy in Drexel Hill...that's me!) 4. Call your debt consolidators and see why MBNA/Bank of America won't cooperate. I had my problem with BofA through GC myself. Eventually GC gave up, and sent my account to another agency, Sunrise Credit Services, who I've heard good & bad things about. They were very helpful for me, and the debt was valid, but not for what GC said it was. I actually owed literally thousands of dollars less. I set up payments every 2 weeks for $100 each and now I'm cleared of the debt from this agency. Sunrise was very friendly towards me, and that made the process so much easier! Good luck! I hope it all works out for you. The main thing you need to try and do is not get emotional. GC tends to prey on the emotionally weak, so being a woman myself, I know how it can get to you. They're just scare tactics and nothing but bullies on the phone. Just take a deep breath, and send that letter to them asap!
