Yesterday 8/22/2009 my wife and I reserved a hotel on beach side locally just to enjoy some time away and decided to order pizza from Giovanni's Pizzeria in Daytona Beach,  why them you may ask, because there was a flyer from the pizzeria in our hotel room so we thought they were reputable.

We ordered the pizzas and the 40 minute delivery time turned into almost an hour.  Anyways, we were starving by then and when the pizzas arrived dug in as you would imagine.  After a few bit I realized there was a strange odor coming from the sauce on the side, smelled like some sort of beer or something anyway I thought it was just a different type of sauce.

Then after trying a bit more realized after the harsh bitter taste came back that it was spoiled.  These were sauces in the cups, so we were hungry and dismissed them as being spoiled cups of sauce that maybe were bad but was an oversight or something from the pizzeria.  We finished the one pizza and it was fine, now we were very hungry after waiting for food for quite some time and then moved on to the next one and after eating about two slices of the next one which I think was Sicillian w/veggies is was apparent that they had used the same contaminated sauce on the pizza and we both almost started losing the meal.

We stopped eating the pizza as you would do as well and decided to call it a night still thinking the pizza was just a bad combination and some re-heated sauce only to find out in the wee hours of the morning that my wife had food poisoning and was crying in horrible abdominal and back pain.

Needless to say we went straight to the emergency and after hours of meds like morphine and saline then blood work we received the news that it was definately food poisoning from the pizza.

Ok, now we have a $2,500.00 emergency room bill.  I called Giovanni's Pizzeria to see if anyone else had reported any cases and the owner was rude, said no cases have been reported in the past three years and they don't have bad pizza EVER!  He said I shouldn't be starting trouble and trying to scam people that he's running a legitimate business and not once said he was concerned about my wife's welfare or said he'd reimburse us for the meal or anything and when I mentioned the bill he became a beligernt fool on the phone and wouldn't even let me talk.  He hung up the phone, so I called back, he had caller ID and said don't be starting trouble with me and was talking over me again so this time I hung up because he would not listen to anything I was trying to say.

Regardless of the situation this man is a JERK, I would recommend no one to GIOVANNI'S PIZZERIA in Daytona Beach.  The man wouldn't even acknowledge that my wife ate there and was sick and was rude about everything, what a slap in the face after getting food poisoning and a $2,500.00 hospital bill on top.
