Complaint Review: Global Service Construction Corp - Selden New York

Ricardo Barba, who goes by the name of "Roger", was referred to me by a Real-Estate agent I do business with. Right around the time Roger (owner of Global Service Construction Corp) cashed my check at a checks cash place, he was going bad on his work to my friend the Real-Estate agent. Later on I found out that he did not complete the work for her either, but by this point it was too late for me.

 I had originally hired Global Service Construction to do my driveway. He had quoted me $8,000.00 for the work on my driveway. He then had requested half the money upfront, or $4,000.00. I wrote the check to him and he said he would start on 8/18/2017. I had called him the next day and he said he would need to start Monday the 21st.

On Monday the 21st he showed up with some of his workers. On this day I showed him my basement, which I needed to waterproof. He told me could do the work for $6,000.00, and asked for $4,000.00 to start. I gave the money to him still not realizing what I was getting myself into. He explained to me that he must first start the basement, because he would be removing concrete from the basement and would need to put it on my driveway. So I agreed.

He then put the driveway on hold, and started the basement demolition. His workers spent no more than 2 days down stairs and worked a total of 5 hours tops. These people littered and started complaining to me that the work was too much, and they weren't getting paid enough. This was first major red flag I noticed after contracting Global Service & Roger.

I was leaving for vacation on Aug 25th for 2 weeks, so I had told Roger to keep the project on hold until I get back, because I wanted to be there to make sure everything would be ok. When I returned the week of September 4th, Roger was supposed to be there at my place September 5th for a meeting with my father and an engineer to solidify a plan for my basement. Roger ended up late to the meeting by 2 hours, and just decided to agree to everything while there.

The month of September I spent receiving messages and excuses and requests for more time needed to start. Weeks went by and nothing was done, towards the end of September I decided to inquire about hiring someone else for the basement. Now I am in October and the basement is not done, and my driveway is not even started, and I am $8,000.00 out.

So the week of October 1st I had asked Roger for my money back. I had told him that out of the $8,000.00 I gave him, no more than $1,500.00 of labor was done in my basement. And this was a generous estimate in my opinion after asking 3 other contractors. Even Roger quickly agreed to that number being ok. So I Told him please give me back my $6,500.00 so I can hire someone else. He told me he already spent my money and didn't have it, but he needed some days to get it. I gave it to him. A week went by, and more excuses, and still no money. Finally we agreed that he would start up the driveway again to work off his debt.  We agreed the $8,000.00 I gave him would be enough to complete the driveway.

For the last 2 weeks in October he did pretty much nothing. He managed to border my driveway with cobblestone all sloppy, with old pieces and just a horrible job. Very bad work was done, and now I will need to tear down his work, and start from fresh.

As I was dealing with this hell, I managed to hire a very reliable contractor to finish my basement in 2 days. I only had wished that I met these people before I met Roger.

The week of October 30th Roger was not returning my calls, only my wifes calls. Roger was also sexually harassing my wife via text messages, flriting with her & telling her he will take care of her and the job will get finished. This was extremely testing for me, Im sure you can understand my position. Roger had the nerve to tell me that he needs $5,000.00 to finish my job and only had $3,000.00 to do so at that moment. This past week he essentially communicated to me that he managed to acquire the $5,000.00 needed to finish his work.

Its now November 10, 2017 , I had the same reliable contractor who finished my house during this whole waiting period come over my place today and give me a quote for my driveway.  After review he told me he could get everything done correctly and start tomorrow for $6,500.00.  So with that news I figured I would call Roger and tell him to give the $5,000.00 to this new contractor and I would pay the difference of $1,500.00, and have someone who does reliable work finish everything correctly.

So with the new contractor I called Roger and told him that I just wanted my money back, which he said he had earlier in the week.  He told me he needed until Monday, and I explained this was unacceptable, and I needed it tomorrow- after all he told me he had it right? Well guess again…   He told me “Too bad come and get it if you are so tough!”  In which case I made the decision to publicly target him and his company, so hopefully someone else doesn’t get ripped off like myself.

Here is the real scary part of this whole nightmare, And I am praying to GOD that hopefully the right person reads this!

Right before I started writing this post I decided to use Truth finder . com to find out more about Roger aka Ricardo Barba.  What I saw was even more alarming then what I was expecting.  It turns out Ricard Barba is not Roger.  They are two separate people.  But coincidentally Ricardo Barba is registered and associated with Global Service Construction Corp.  On Truth finder . com you are able to see a person’s social media pages, and they even have phone numbers associated as well.  I decided to send Ricardo Barba a very cordial private message in Facebook in hopes of more clarity on this dark mystery.

Here is what I wrote him…

“Ricardo... You do not know who I am, and after looking at your picture Im realizing that I do not know who you are either. But if you have any affiliation with a person by the name of the Roger from Global Service Construciton, it would be in your best interest to call me immediately. You are registered as the owner of this company, and I am taking legal action against the company mentioned above. If you have no idea who Roger is, or Global Service Construction, then please forgive me for sending this message to you- I will have the authorities look into the mis-information. However if you do know who Roger is and this company... I would like to take the time to explain to you that Roger has stolen money from me and not completed work he was supposed to do. Here is my number if you feel we should speak xxx-xxx-xxxx... If none of this makes sense, once again I apologize for reaching out to you like this.

There were 2 phone numbers listed on the truthfinder report for Ricardo Barba, One was the same number I communicate with “Roger” on.  The other one was also a mobile number that I called.  Someone picked up, was breathing heavy, and hung up on me.  I texted the number… “Hello?”… And still no one has responded to me.

At this point I hope I have some type of recourse in order to legally go after the phantom-business operation.  I am also hoping this finds the right person of influence, so hopefully they can blow a whistle on this con man, and save another innocent person from getting ripped off around the holiday season.
