I am a medical student and started reading this forum for amusement. This physician did not lie about the cost of the medical visit- $40 was charged for seeing the doctor. Any additional tests or procedures would naturally add to the bill. It is absurd to expect free vaccinations when the clinic or office that provided them to you must purchase them from a supplier. Just because you were ignorant of normal business practices does not make this physician unethical. If finances are an issue, patients should always ask what proposed treatments cost. Physicians have enough to worry about is helping chose the best treatment for you and should not be expected to automatically counsel every patient on how to pay for it. This doctor did the best she could to improve your health and well-being, you should thank her, pay the bill, and remember to ask about costs the next time you go to the doctor.
