GV Designer Clothing rip off scam. He approached me in the parking lot. South Bay California
While at the parking lot of Costco in Torrance, California, I was approched by a well dressed young man who claimed he needed directions to the airport. I proceeded to tell him when he explained that he had just attended a week long sales conference for designer clothing and had extra designer clothing which he did not want to take back to Italy. He even showed me what appeared to be an airline ticket voucher.
The scam is that for the price of what he had to pay for the 5 day rental of his vehicle (roughly $500) he would give me the expensive designer clothing valued at over $7000 dollars.
The clothing included a fancy box with four men's dress shirts, two ties and two belts, and five leather jackets wrapped in fancy plastic wrapping. The fancy box and plastic wrapping is covered with designer words and labels such as "Emporio", "Made In Italy" and "GV" (Gucci Versace?) It also had a misleading symbol resembling the Versace medusa label.
The clothing is ALL fake. A good imitation of designer clothing but fake. The ties are heavy polyester, the belts and jackets are fake leather (pleather). It appears to be a well organized group of scam artists opperating all over the South Bay. I recently spotted one of these scam artists in another shopping center. Don't be scamed like I was.
