Happy Housing - Crystal Valley - Patriot Homes ripoff! Inappropriate change orders! Jackson Michigan
These people are trying to collect for an unsigned change order that was not even written until we took occupancy of our house which, according to them was the deadline for payment of all charges. I was told that they would pay $600 for propane and if I could find a cheaper supplier, I would be credited the difference. When I inquired about the credit for not spending the whole $600, they came up with an unsigned change order for $650.00 for stump removal and a manhole over the septic lift pump tank.
We decided that since they would not even discuss this bill, we would just ignore it since it was not legitimate. Since then we have been trying to get a window that was damaged repaired. When the broken glass was replaced, the installer informed us that the frame was damaged. I contacted Crystal Valley Division of Patriot Homes and after waiting several days for them to "find the file" they contacted Skip Long at Happy Housing and he said that the damaged window was his responsibility but he was not going to do anything about it until we paid our bill.
This is just another tactic to try to get us to pay them money that we do not owe them so we can get repairs done that they are contractually obligated to do.
DO NOT DO Business with Happy Housing, Cystal Valley or Patriot Homes. They will cheat you out of your money!! If they make mistakes, you have to pay the bills.

They did make some of the repairs but the continue to try to collect monies that I do not owe them. They had a credit bureau call and threaten my wife. (Ann Arbor Credit Bureau-great people!) and now they have found some under employed attorney that is willing to send out letters whether or not the claim is legitimate. Seems as though they would take their claim to small claims court if they had a case (it would cost them less) or they would honor the arbitration clause we both signed. I guess I am expecting too much when I expect Skip to honor anything.

I have been informed that Patriot Homes and Crystal Valley have NO, I repeat NO responsibility in this situation. I am EXTREMELY sorry for mentioning their names in a derogatory manner. Happy Housing is who I am having my difficulties with and yesterday I received a letter from them offering to perform most of the repairs that we have requested. I am still nor sure how far they will go with trying to collect the bill we don't owe but if they settle down so will I. Sorry Patriot Homes!

more lies to the Michigan Attorney General

Now my buddy Skip has sent a letter full of lies to the Michigan Attorney General. When you pin the guy down on something that he lies about, he changes the angle of attack and comes up with a new story. He now claims that he gave us "early occupancy" before all bills were settled. This was not true! My wife went to his office and authorized the final draw on the construction loan and Skip reviewed the file and issued a refund for deposit money that was not owed him! Would any business man give you a refund of deposited funds before he had collected for everything? I think not! THe real point about this whole billing situation is that the change order was never signed or agreed to by us.

Not only has he not done anything about the damages to my house but now the moron has sent me to collections. Of course, anyone with a brain know that collection agencies can only collect moneies that both parties agree are do so this is just another one of Skip the idiots tactics to try to make me pay him just to get him off my case. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN!!!!!!
