On or about February 2012 I put my 2006 Harley Davidson in the shop for a complete bottom end overhaul. I got it back over four months later with a bill of about $2,000.00. There was a noise when I got it back and the mechanic blamed it on the clutch. Less than 500 miles later a loud knocking sound was coming from the bottom en which I had just paid to be completely overhauled. At the time I was 1,400 miles away on vacation and cound not ride, which was why I went in the first place. I returned and place the motorcycle in Harlan's Cycle Service again and waited another four months and was charged an additonal $800.00. After about 1,500 miles the same knocking was in the bottom end again. I have now demanded all the money be returned because I will have to take it to another shop because it is more than obvious that Harlan's Cycle Service and the mechanics that work there are not competent to do the repairs correctly. A formal certified letter with return receipt requested will be mailed today. I do not expect to have my money returned and fully expect to have to pursue legal action.

We've been going to Harlan's for years now and never had any issues. Quick turnaround with honest rates. Sorry you had a bad experience. Maybe it was the bike ...or maybe he did slip up on a job. Either way, never had any issues there and they've always been knowledgeable, quick, and fair.

Well, I sent the certified lettter to get a full reimbursment for the shoddy work they did TWICE and no response. Good thing they did not send the money I paid them. I took it to Mancuso and there was more wrong with it than the first time Harlan had it.
They put a bad crank in it, the pistons that were new were ruined, the gears had teeth missing (Bad Crank They Sold Me), The high flow oil pump was ruined, the lifters and cams were scarred up and had to be replaced so esentially I now have a new motor with a one year warranty and runs better than it ever did after Harlan's Cycle Service worked on it.
It cost $5,500.00 to get everything fixed so now I file a suit against them for $6,500.00 since it broke on my vacation that was to go ride in SD, WY, CO and had to rent a bike in SD and pay to have it checked out in Rapid City, SD.
Harlan's Cycle Service has go to be the worst shop that I have ever been to for anything. If you ever need engine work, or anything for that matter, Mancuso Central in Houston was great. They did the work for about $1,000.00 less than what I had in the bike originally and since the pistons and cyclinders needed to be replace or bored I got a 95" big bore for the same price and just a standard bore and new pistons.
I will update again when the legal process is complete and let everyone know of the outcome
