We hired Haverhill Gutters to put Alcoa Gutters on my home in 9/2007. We signed a contract that said Alcoa gutters would be put on the house. The salesman/ Installer Barry Billcliff came with a crew and dis the install. A few months after the install we realized how poor the workmanship was. The gutters were not collecting the rain... in fact it looked like a waterfall. The gutters are pitched incorrectly, misaligned and have huge gaps. The paint on the aluminum gutters is peeling and flaking off. We tried working with the company to rectify these problems. BUT, they are not concerned with the peeling paint. They want to sand and repaint. This of course voids the manufacturers warranty. The worst part... I had an Alcoa representative out to see the gutters last week and he's not even sure they are Alcoa aluminum. He sent it out for testing and we should know in about a week. Of course, we asked Barry if these were Alcoa and his response was he didn't know, or care. He was only concerned with the install. We argued that he brought this product to our house and it was suppose to be Alcoa. He said it might be or might not be Alcoa. Again, he's only concerned with the install. My opinion, he can't be that interested in the install... it's a horrible mess. We finally asked for a refund... and they will not. According to them, the install is fine and that's the end of that. We've asked to speak with the owner, Tim Shannon and he will not call us back. By the way, remember the men who were accused of stealing antique money from a barn in Newbury, MA a few years back... yes, Barry is one of those men. Take a look here:

These con men are still out there. Please beware!!! Please DO NOT HIRE Haverhill Gutters & Roofing or Merrimack Valley Roofing & Gutters!!! They are an awful company with deceptive, unfair practices. You don't want to do business with them.

Merrimack Valley Roofing and Gutters is not a registered LLC in either the state of N.H. or Massachusetts. Barry Billcliff has another registered company in Massachusetts called BARRYSROOFING INC, he uses the Merrimack Valley name to throw all the scamed people off his tracks.

This is (Barry Billcliffs) BARRYSROOFING INC  Federal tax ID # 461894498, this is public information, just like Barry Billcliffs extensive criminal record (convicted felon) go to the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Corporations Division and enter Barry Billcliff.

BARRYSROOFING INC is located at 522 Merrimack St Methuen, Ma 01841. This is the official registered address from the state of Massachusetts.

Run a background check on Barry Billcliff, also public information and you will see that Barry Billcliff has been arrested around 15 times in 3 different states, with several convictions.

Remember if you want to sue him, start with BARRYSROOFING INC, he is the registered owner. Merrimack Valley is just his non existent ghost LLC.

There's much much more to come

Jillian is Melissa Lawless, my neighbor, and should take what she said back. She went to court and those guys won a counter claim against her. They were so nice and she needs to go back to work

What can I say? My name is Andrew, I am a realtor.  I sub-contract alot of home improvement contracts.  I have used Merrimack Valley Roofing and Gutters LLC a few times now, and I am impressed.  At 43, as weird as it sounds, my mother made me hire them.  She lives in a complex in Salem, and said that they did a bunch of work at her facility.  She said she yelled at one of the guys for making a racket, and he came off the roof, walked over to her unit, and apologized sincerely for the noise that the nail gun makes.  He disconnected the air compressor, moved it to the other side of the building, then re-ran his hoses and continued on.  When he got to her unit, she really put him through the ringer.  She asked that he hand nail her shingles, because thats the way her dad would have done it.  Then she asked him to replace the security light.  She was out there every half hour bothering those poor guys.  I was in and out all day, everytime I was there I apologized on her behalf, but they brushed it off completely.  They said that they all had mothers too.   What really suprised me was that they completed the whole complex in just two days, when they were done, the ground looked like it was just landscaped.   I asked the neighbor two doors down, who is on the board, how much all the extras were, and he said that Merriamck Valley Roofing and Gutters came highly recommended and never charged over the agreed amount.
So when I decided that it was time to replace my roof and gutters this year, my mom forbid me from going anywhere else.  I made the mistake of telling the foreman, Barry Billcliff , that I was using Merrimack Roofing and Gutters no matter what.  I assumed he would up the price, so I called around and got five estimates.  They were the second to LOWEST!  You don't see that type of integrity anymore.

I was shocked to find out that shortly after my job, my neighbor, Melissa Lawless, hired them to do her gutters.  She just had two kids.  Her husband is a FireFighter and a real nice guy.  She worked her but off running her business for virtually her whole life.  Now she sits at home and raises the kids, relaying on her husband's salary.  They get by.  But she is going stir crazy.  She keeps dedicating herself to these "missions" without any regard to whom she is affecting.  I went over and talked to her about the whole ordeal.  I guess they DID use the right products, and a contractor friend of hers came by and bent up the corners befor she took the pictures.  She even told me that they refunded a portion of her money, and came back seven (7) times to test the system and create a giant demonstration on how her issue was due to a roof issue, not the gutters.  Where it all settled was she sued them, and the Judge not only found in the company's favor, but asked them to counter sue.

Long story short, I used them, I was blown away by them. I called their refences and got other estimates.  They are just great.  They did my roof and gutters in the same day.  a Foreman stopped by, he went over the options, made recommendations, and went though the entire job with me. We looked at demos to see what my roof would look like with different colors.  We chose a great shingle and matching gutters.  They made my home into a construction site for the day.  They had big trucks in here.  They had a roofing crew doing my roof while a grounds crew did the clean up, and gutter guys installed the gutters.  At the end of the day, My home was amazing.  The grounds look like they were just landscaped, just like my mom's place.  They gave me, a random person, the same quality and attention to detail that they do for a millionare coporation
So anyway, like I said, I was forced to use Merrimack Valley Roofing and Gutters LLC by my mom,  but no matter what, I would have used them, and I'm very glad I did.  And I'm happy to go online and report my experience to you.  i hope you use these guys too, and have the same experience I had.  And then I hope you go online, and either good or bad, report what you think.

We Had a Fantastic Experience With Barry Billcliff

Barry and his crew recently stripped and redid the roof of our new house. They did a great job; the roof looks awesome, and we haven't had any problems what so ever. The biggest problem YOU seem to have is the gutters themselves. Obviously the salesman is going to claim that crappy gutters aren't theirs. Using the materials Barry advised and trusting the man who actually knows what he's doing when it comes to roofing and gutters, we had an excelent experience, and would recommend these guys to anyone. The job was done in one day, and the cleanup gave the illusion that they were never there.

I believe Jillian in Andover.  Merrimack Valley Roofing did work at my Mom's house and it was horrible.  They replaced the entire roof and now it leaks.  Barry Billcliff presented himself under a false name.  Had we known his real name, we would have been able to find all the bad reports about his company before we hired him.  His crew left old roof shingles all over the yard and completely filling and clogging the gutters and downspouts.  We even found 2 full rolls of nails in the gutter!  They ruined 6 screens on the new windows that had just been installed.  And, the roof leaks and is causing damage inside the house!  Barry assured my mom he'd be back to fix all of these issues and has never done so.  We were told that he is now in jail, which is good because that's where he belongs.  Unfortunately, once out, he'll continue to scam people; this seems to be his way of life.  His crew is still out there working/scamming others.

After personally dealing with the owner and some of the workers of this company I have to say I can only imagine that was a false report written by compatition slander Merrimack Valley Roofing. The owner came to my home himself to do the initial consultation and was very easy to get a hold of when I had additional questions. The young men did a great job! The quality of the work and materials was impressive. Katrina
