I purchased a 42" Hitachia Plasma TV Model 42EDT41 in 2004 for $3300. In less than 4 years a black 1 1/2" wide bar appeared vertically on the screen. Six months later a second bar appeared, and then recently a third bar appeared. I paid a service person $85, who recommended I not fix it, but buy a new LCD.
