Home Careers Center fraudulent refund guarantee; website no longer accessible, very misleading concept Internet
I paid $29.95 through I Bill to become a "lifetime member" of this website whom I accessed through CareerBuilder.com on a job search. (I am not complaining about careerbuilder and in no way hold them responsible for this rip off).
The Home Careers Center is a job search site that with a paid membership grants you access to "thousands" of telecommuting opportunities that you can pursue. I signed up on Decemeber 17, 2003, paid the $29.95 and was granted immediate access to the site which revealed SPARSE and repetitive job leads and limited information which can easily be obtained for free from careerbuilder or even the small 2 line classified ads in your local newspaper.
Very dissatisfied, I immediately filled out the refund request form. Before signing up I had read every word on their website including some very encouraging text on their SATISFACTION GUARANTEE and their FAST REFUND policy. I submitted my request and was taken to a page that said due to high volume of emails please allow 2 weeks for a response. I waited 2 weeks and received no response, so I sent a second email. I still received no response and as of today, March 16, 2004 have received no reply and definitely no refund. Furthermore, I attempted to visit their website today and it apparently doesn't exist anymore. I guess that's just what I get and I now know that if you cannot get a contact name, STREET address and a DIRECT PHONE number for an online company it is never a good idea to give them your money.
