Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I ordered four boxes of Pergo hardwood flooring and trim from the Hobart, Indiana Home Depot the week of November 28th, 2011.  I was told the flooring should arrive at the store in approximately a week and a half.  I went to the store after the allotted time to check on the status of my order as no one had contacted me to inform me our floor was not in yet.  They then called Pergo in order to answer my question.  Pergo told them it was on back order and it would be another week before it ships to their store.  I concurred.

Finally, the product arrived to the store but I was never informed when it arrived. I had to walk into Home Depot to find out.  I brought my flooring home the night of the 12th and the next day I proceeded to start laying the floor. My wife and I were having our families over the weekend of the 18th and wanted our home to be completed by then. Upon opening the boxes of flooring, I realized all of it was cracked or damaged. Every box including the trim. One box of trim wasnt even the correct color.  I went back to Home Depot the next day and Home Depot reordered the product with the promise it would be rush delivered and they would personally deliver it to our home free of charge.  I once again agreed because we planned on ordering our carpet and windows from Home Depot when our floor was finished.

The following week comes and again no one called me to inform us that the flooring still had not arrived. They told me it should be in, in just a few more days but that they will call Pergo to find out definitely. Pergo said it wouldnt be in for another week.  I was furious. It was now almost 4 weeks from the time I first placed my floor order and was still left with no product or compensation for the trouble.  I canceled the order and told them I was going to Mxxxx (((REDACTED))) to get my flooring.  The store employee did nothing to stop me from going to their competitor to buy the product.  I left Home Depot empty handed and disappointed with their service and preceded into Mxxxx where I was graciously helped and returned home the same day with the product in hand.  I will now continue to drive that extra 10 minutes to Mxxxx for everything I need in my home.  The Hobart Indiana Home Depot store has horrible costumer service.

After I purchased the flooring, trim, and stain from Mxxxxx, I called Hobart Home Depot to let the store manager, Terry Girzus, know how my service was handled.  I was unable to speak with him but did let the assistant manager, Candice Campbell, know.  All she said was, Sorry to hear that and have a good holiday. Again, I was disappointed in the service I received so Im writing this letter in hopes that future customers have a better experience than I obtained. I will now take my service, my families, my friends, co-workers, and anyone who will listen, and tell them that Menards facility is better apt to serve them and their needs.
sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! Placing the blame on the wrong company

I have to agree with Robert, it seems your problems are with Pergo, not Home Depot.  Home Depot didn't ship out damaged and wrong color product, Pergo did.  Granted, they should have called you when your order was in, but that hardly constitutes a rip off.  Expecting Home Depot to compensate you for Pergo's shortcomings is totally misguided.

RipOff?

Bad customer Service...perhaps but where is the RipOff?

One of your complaints is that you were never called when it was NOT in.  Well I have had special orders at several stores and have NEVER been called when an item is NOT in.  In fact based on your timeline even if they would have called you, you may not have given them enough time.

You order it on the 28th and they told you it would be "approximately" 1 1/2 weeks.  That would put it in around the 8th of December.  Now, you go in after the date you thought, so let's figure you went in on the 9th.  Now, when you went in they told you it would be another week before it even ships.   This puts in no earlier than the 16th or 17th, which if you wanted it in by the 18th would be cutting it close but that didn't seem to bother you.  But then if it wasn't supposed to be in until at least the 16th or 17th why did you have to go in on the 12th?  So in the end instead of getting it in 1 1/2 weeks you got it in 2 weeks, for special orders I think that would be in most peoples expectations of "approximately".

Now, when it is picked up they are damaged.  Unless you want to claim that Home Depot damaged them intentionally..seems like your issue may be more with Pergo.

The didn't seem like they gave you any trouble in the refund, so I figure you got your money back.  So exactly what could the employee have done to "compensate" you for something that was not their fault? 10% off, 20% off, 50%, the entire order for free?
