Memorial Day 2006,purchased lawn mower and other items at Home Depot totaling over $300. Purchaser was to receive $30. gift card for purchasing mower and $20. gift card if purchases exceed $300.

Submitted forms supplied and copies of register receipt to the Home Depot address provided. Forms offer phone number or web-site to check on rebate status. After 4 weeks a call generated a reply "Home Depot experiencing computer glitch please try back in 4 weeks". I wrote their web-site and was advised that they received the forms but because of "computer problems" there would be a further delay and they would be writing to me informing me when I would get my rebates.

Then the real trouble started. I received e-mails indicating my cash register receipt was not included and would I e-mail them a copy as an "attachment" using JPEG, which I did. Their response was that JPEG wasn't satisfactory could I send it as an attachment using PDF format, which I did. Home Depot responds that because of "security" they could not accept PDF format and could I fax them the receipt.

I picked up my bulging file and took it to the Department of Consumer Affairs for the State of Connecticut. I asked them to get Home Depot to divine which format will facilitate the issuance of the two "gift cards".

With the economy going into a slump this is not the time to have dis-satisfied consumers.

Home Depot Rebates

#2Author of original report

As of the date of this posting, I finally received the second and final of the two rebates that were so very long overdue. The first one for $30. arrived last week and the second for $25. arrived today. In the interim I received two notifications by mail that my rebates were not being processed due to lack of specific forms. Home Depot's processing center had one bad foul up but I perservered. Always remember in the face of such adversity the motto "ILLEGITIMI NON CARBORUNDUM EST" (roughly translated, "don't let the b-----ds wear you down".

I have been going thru the same thing. I have been waiting for my rebate gift cards for almost 4 months now. They have tried given me every excuse you can think of. As you know the rebate form says to allow 4-6 weeks. What a joke huh? I'm not sure if you searched the internet for other people who are in the situation as us. I have and I am amazed at all the other complaints with these rebates. I have called the Corporate Office to make them aware of the situation , including what i found on the internet. Nikkia said " yup we know" and said there is nothing that can be done, and that i needed to be patient! Honestly they dont care and they THINK they can get away with it. I personally will not let this rest. Hopefully, some will be done soon. Please update your report if you get any resolution in this matter.
