Take the vehicle to the mechanic BEFORE you buy it. NOT the next day, AFTER you bought it. That way you won't find; "none of the standard maintance work had ever been done, over $400 worth, then the paint won't show signs of being over body work that was not disclosed and there won't be air leaks around the windows. Note, many people trade in used vehicle RIGHT BEFORE major routine maintance is required just so they don't have to pay for it. They figure they're not gonna keep the vehicle so why bother to pay for it. Let the next sucker pay for it. About the only you can check is demand to see any maintance records, on the vehicle, in a dealer's computer. Been there, done that, with my son-in-law. They're just gonna have to learn.
