My payment was due on Dec. 7. I went online on Dec. 6 to make the payment and discovered that the earliest HSBC can credit an online payment is Dec. 8. I called and this is correct. If you want to pay a day BEFORE the due date, you either have to pay a late fee or a rush-payment fee. They also have a pay-by-phone or pay-by-check option but all require 2 DAYS! So, the bottom line is that HSBC's system is so antiquated that it takes them 2 DAYS to process an ELECTRONIC payment or they are ripping people off who pay ON TIME! Other credit card companies don't seem to have this problem. I will not be using their card again! I suggest you avoid them as well.

Actually, with HSBC you can schedule your payment at any time during the month to be taken out of your account on the date you choose so their system is not as antiquated as the Capital One the system. However, if you want to become part of the solution contact both your state Senators and Representatives and your Federal Representatives and Senators and ask them to put a bill forward that will stop credit card comapnies from allowing customers to go over their limit and from charging over-limit fees on interest. Then get all of your friends, neighbors and relatives to do the same. Talking to the company won't help. Their practices can only be stopped by legislation. Laws let them get away with it. Laws can stop them from doing it. And I did close my account because of their "shady" practices.
