I recently installed 330 square feet of quartersawn/rift white oak flooring, from Hurst Hardwoods, in my kitchen. The results are spectacular ! A nice balance of quartersawn and rift material, milled to give a perfect tongue and groove fit between the boards.
The new flooring compliments the original quartersawn/rift oak flooring in our 1915 craftsman Bungalow home very nicely, couldnt be happier !!!

I needed to put red oak tongue and groove flooring on an approximately 720 square foot room and found Hurst Hardwoods using an Internet search for red oak flooring. However, having read a couple negative reports I was apprehensive. Somewhat reassured by the company's rebuttal, I went ahead and bought their Gunstock 3 1/4" wide, 3/4" thick, pre-finished tongue and groove red oak flooring at $3.99 a square foot, plus shipping. The shipment arrived in timely fashion. Once the flooring was installed, I thought the room came out beautiful! Everyone--installers, the owner, tenants, and guests—who was there that day was impressed. I heard one guest who has built several homes comment that normally the price for such flooring would be higher. Moreover, because I was wrong in my calculations on the size of the room to be floored by about 100 sq. feet, I emailed Hurst Hardwoods asking if I could return the excess flooring. However, the ends of the cartons had been opened so that the wood could acclimate to room temperature before installation, and I was under the impression that their website stated that only unopened boxes would be restocked. In response, Hurst wrote granting permission to return the unused excess flooring. The owner of the house, however, was so impressed with the red oak flooring that he decided to keep the excess and use it for a small room in another house. Whatever may have been the experience of others with Hurst Hardwoods, I was very satisfied with mine.

We have been doing 300 shipments a month for 2 years and 150 a month the previous two years. During that time we have two complaints. One is this lady for a 5 box purchase of Bruce factory seconds for $275 with shipping. The complaint marked 2006 is actually from 2001 and we are pursuing Ripp Off Report about it. We sent the lady a no charge replacement box and she wanted to take out all the short boards and have us send more boxes. Why? Everyone else buys it. Armstrong sends out 2-3 truckloads a day. We sell a truck load every 3 weeks and get nothing like this for complaints. She paid half the price of 1st quality and first quality has short boards too! Impossible person. Must be on her 5 husband.
