On 1/20/04, I ordered one (1)Laser Staight with a free stud finder at the regular price of $19.99, and believed I was purchasing an two (2) additional laser Straight units at a reduced price of $14.99. Two months later (March), I received confirmation via E-mail that my order had been processed and will be shipped promptly. I received the order 3/17/04. Upon receipt of said order, I found only one (1) Laser Straight product with free stud finder and two (2) coupons for the (2) additional Laser Straight items.

Upon calling the company (Idea Village)customer service number (818)485-3014, I was told that the order was correct. To my surprise, I purchased one item for $19.99, and 2 "coupons" to purchase additional items for the price of $14.99 each. Do the math...2 coupons at $14.99 to purchase 2 units at $14.99 per unit. 7.49 + 7.49 + 14.99 + 14.99 = $44.97 Shipping and handling costing $5.99 per item, 5.99 x 2 = 11.98 + 44.97 = $56.95, and I have not made mention of the shipping cost for the 1 Laser Straight received by US regular mail which cost $25.00.

This company, (Idea Village) has the best scam going to date. Be advised that attempting to purchase additional units can be extremely costly. They definitely have a fradulent advertising campaign on T.V., as they make no mention of purchasing "coupons" for $14.99. The average person would beleive he was purchasing additional units at a reduced price with shipping cost to cover the entire order.

It would be advised not to do business with this company and to wait until this item or one simular makes store shelves.

company is charging six (6) times the actual cost to ship their product

Be advised that this company is charging six (6) times the actual cost to ship their product via US Postal Service. Today, (3/21/04), I mailed their product back for a refund using the same method they used to send it to me and discovered it only cost $3.80 to cover both shipping/handling and insurance. Per Laser Straight/Idea Village, it cost $25.00 to ship the item to me. They made it quite clear that all money will be refunded minus shipping cost. Let's do the math again... $25.00-$3.80=$21.20. This company is a RIP-OFF artist. They have actually created a legal way to steal!!!
