these lil punk asses attempted to get me to pay for my own work. they said that i was an outstanding poet and that my poem was gonna be published in a book and even on cd.

they also said that i was a semifinalist in a national competition and that i was guaranteed a $25.00 prize. the semfinals were supposed to be held in march, meaning that i should have gotten my money in march or at least by early april.

no money ever came. they tried to get me to but the book and cd but i didnt want them. they just recently sent me some mail about an induction ceremony into their lil society. i was being invited because i wrote a very beautiful and meaningful poem and im gonna be honored. so they want me to pay $595.00 to go to the ceremony. haha. ha.

fortunatley i havent paid a dime to them. they continously asked if i wanted to buy the book that my poem is supposed to be in and the cd that my poem is supposed to be on. i never wanted either one, i figured that just knowing that my poem was gonna be respected in such a manner was good 'nuff for me.

these people are pretty smart though. i gotta give 'em that. they picked on the best group to pick on. honest, open, trusting, beautiful people who were actually willing to open their hearts and minds for just some simple recognition and a shot at their 15 minutes of fame. wow...did they ever get busted.

but i got a question. what are we (the people that got screwed) going to about this horrendous insult to our intelligence and humanity?. what are we going to do?. i think we should sue.

i shoulda figured them out a long time ago. look at the adress. "1 Poetry Plaza". lol, yeah. a whole street dedicated to just one building and the street just happens to be named after the stuff that the building sponsors.

i submitted a poem and was selected as a semi finalist. poetry.com also told me i would be in a book. couple days later i was nomminated for poet of the year. they wanted me to pay for seats at that thing and wanted me to pay for airline tickets and hotel. thankfully i didn't buy the book. i can't afford to go to that "gathering". can someone help me to find out if these guys are rip-offs? also i was submitted into american poets.com and paid for the book of theirs. still no reply from them.
