I used Invention Home/Jacob Enterprises because I thought they could market my invention. I was given the impression that their success rate was high & that they would be able to find a company that would be interested in marketing my product. The bottom line is the only thing that was high was their price.
I wasted over $3,000+ with Invention Home. I am writing this because I want to prevent others from losing their hard earned money to a company that has no intention of seeing your product marketed.
This company will send you an "inventor's kit" that promises to evaluate your invention which is always glowingly positive. Then, they will ask for the large fee anywhere from $3,000-$5,000 and up. They will promise to do "market research" to try & sell your invention or have it manufactured. They will tell you that they will take a percentage (25%) of your invention only after they have secured a licensing deal.
The real deal is that Invention Home will do little more than write a brief statement describing your invention. Do some artwork, which in my opinion was pretty bad. Then, supposedly send it to prospective manufacturers in the appropriate fields. IT'S A JOKE. Their efforts are basically 100% unsuccessful, as reported in the article "Patent Nonsense," in the Wall Street Journal & on the TV program 20/20. This company & others like it make their money on INVENTORS, not INVENTIONS. I also did some research on my own & found that despite the strict statutes & penalties from federal legislation, Invention Home & other similar companies continue to operate freely enabling them to defraud inventors of millions of dollars annually.
I stopped sending them their montly fee for their so called website service & decided to market my product on-line myself with a patent pending. You can get a provisional patent or utilities patent yourself. It is not hard and you do not have to use an attorney. The patent office will help you enormously. They will also tell you not to use these types of companies.
I am only taking the time to write this in hopes of preventing others from wasting their hard earned money with this company. I am not even angry anymore. I just chalked it up to a learning experience.
FYI-the Coca Cola company does not have a patent on their infamous Coke product. They have a patent pending so that no one knows whats in it!!
