Owner Operators beware - I am writing to bring to light what I have experienced with Jacobson Transportation - first let me say that I have driven for them over two years and have only recently been a victim of theirs.

They will tell you in their recruiting ads and also in their orientation that they are a non-forced dispatch, well I am here to tell you that that is not true. Just recently I have been terminated for refusing a load - the first in my two years of being there - to be totally fair, I did not refuse the load, all that I did was to ask them if the load could deliver early, and was told that they did not know and that they would have to check in the morning. This load was a total of 268 miles to run over night after having been sitting for the better part of the day and was not scheduled to deliver until 1300 the next day. After asking my question (via Qualcomm) I received a reply back and then told them that I wasn't going to take the load if they couldn't answer that simple question.  They sent back a following message that If I refused the load that my lease would be terminated.

I then sent them a message asking if they were firing me, and they replied that it didn't seem that I wanted to work for them anymore and yes, they were terminating me.

The then proceeded to tell me that if I did not return their trailor/equipment back to the home terminal - Des Moines, IA - I was currently in Rochelle, IL that they were going to charge me for the pick up of the trailor and to report it on my DAC report as abondoning equipment.

They have done this to a couple of other drivers, and if you do return to the main terminal, they then pull your permits and plates and you have to then try to find a way to get your equipment/tractor back to your home unregistered.

So beware of their dishonesty!!!!!!!

Recruiting will tell you that they have the miles, but the fact of the matter is that only those that have a small fleet leased to this company are the only ones that are going to get any miles.  I hired on as a Team and over the last two years saw all of their longhaul freight goe to company drivers and to the small leased fleets.  I went solo with them after seeing this and still watched my miles drop from 2500+ down to 1500+ in just a course of a month.

Don't be fooled by their recruiting ADS, THEY ARE STILL HIRING FASTER THAN EVER EVEN THOUGH THEY DO NOT HAVE THE FREIGHT  to support the number of drivers that they have.
