I am employed through JB Hunt Transportation as a semi local truck driver. Over the past 8 weeks (beginning of my rehire employment) I have still not received a Comdata Pay card so in order for me to receive pay, I need to request advances.

In doing so, there is a $10.00 advance fee. I have accumulated several hundred dollars of fees along the way. I have contacted payroll Administrator Ann Reed as she stated, payroll did nothing wrong. I have also contacted H. R. as to which my attention is ignored.

I have also tried to reach out to the CEO to no avail. About 4 weeks ago (early December) I decided to order my own Comdata Pay card. The card arrived overnight, the next day. All card information was updated on my banking Workday site and i was told by payroll everything was in working order.

I informed Ann Reed of the changes and my latest card was deleted from the Workday site. There was also a payroll check deposited to this latest card that I have yet to hear from Ann about payroll mistakes. Payroll sweeps dirty actions under the carpet and refuses to take responsibility.

My requests for reimbursements are ignored. I am demanding all fees be paid back, plus another $6000.00 for making me wait 8 weeks to correct payroll mistakes.

If this were a legitimate legal issue governing mistakes in the amounts deposited into your Comdata account, then you could take your dispute to a state agency and they can help remedy the situation for you.  However, the minute you bring up dishonesty, then you're not talking about a mistake.  You're now disputing what they should have paid you, and/or reimburse you.  Perhaps you can speak with someone in that state agency - they can at least advise you as to whether you have a legit dispute, or not.  If you do, then they can assist in advising you how to resolve the situation.

Legally, you have no ground to stand on regarding reimbursement of your fees.  Sorry, but legally they aren't responsible.  Courts have found in the past that the company has no responsibility for such fees in this type of situation.

People keep thinking complaints affect a company adversely on google.  It doesn't unless the number of complaints gets to be so high, that the media ends up covering the situation.  In the last 12 months on this website, there has been zero complaints - the last was in 2017.  How many drivers does this company have?  One hundred?  Several hundred?  If I'm a driver and I see one complaint in the last 12 months for a fairly large company, then I'm going to think the complaint is an aberration.

Probably a Dispute - Not a Mistake

As a truck driver, you should be very familiar with Comdata since many trucking companies use them AND OTR drivers love Comdata for fueling up.  One of the issues is that - yeah you probably should have had a Comdata card ready for you by your employer.  BUT Comdata is really good at getting a replacement card for you - as you describe, when you finally ordered one, you had your new card next day.  If you went 4 weeks without a Comdata card, that's maybe 2 weeks their fault and 2 weeks your fault.

Payroll's responsibility to you is to load your Comdata account and as long as they load your account, that's all they can do.  Should HR made sure they provided you with a Comcard?  Perhaps.  But again, they should have also told you 2 weeks into this issue, that you can call Comdata and get a new card.  All I know is that if there's money in my Comdata account, and I don't have a card to access the funds, then I get on the phone and get a card NOW.  I don't even wait one day.

In doing so, there is a $10.00 advance fee. I have accumulated several hundred dollars of fees along the way.  Which is why it was really your responsibility to secure a new card from Comdata sooner.  The idea that in 4 weeks you accumulated several hundred dollars in fees is preposterous and potentially mismanagement on your part.

My requests for reimbursements are ignored.  If you're talking about reimbursement of your Comdata fees, don't bother.  You shouldn't get reimbursement for Comdata fees.  Those fees are controllable and are on you.

I am demanding all fees be paid back, plus another $6000.00 for making me wait 8 weeks to correct payroll mistakes.  Why should they give you $6,000?  Why not $10,000?  You don't go into the mistakes you're talking about, but perhaps the payroll mistakes you're talking about, aren't payroll mistakes either but are more likely disputes over how you should be paid?  I mean you don't go into it, but I know truck drivers always dispute what they should have been paid vs. what they were paid, and the drivers always think they happen to be correct.  Its why most drivers became OTR or O/O of their own rigs.  They can then choose their own hauls and still be paid via their own ComCard, which you can't do when you work for a trucking company.
