All My problems began on Nov.11,2001 when I bought a 1990 Nissan Stanza from J.D.Byrider. My Nissan Stanza had 106,030 miles on it when I purchased it for a whopping 8,046.20 plus 21% intrest which brought the total price of the car to 12,098.84. And did I mention the 1,800 warranty. I knew my credit wasn't good so I "bit the bullet" so to speak and accepted the car. All during the closing I was trying to figure out how they were legally tripling the price of the vehicle. The oddest thing was during the closing the Cnac(the bank that finace company) manager never looked up once while explaining the legal ins and outs of the contract. I don't know but it always tends to bother me when one can't look you in the eye, especially when discussing business.

Ripoffreport Report Image

After havign the car only three weeks I noticed a very loud noise coming from the brakes. I took the car to Byrider several times and each time I was told there was nothing wrong with the brakes. They treated me as if I was crazy, imagining things I suppose.

After weeks and weeks of driving around with this annoying brake noise I finally took it to a local mechanic(Teaxco) only to be told I have no brakes. I took the car back to Byrider again and low and behold now the brakes are bad as well as the rotaters.

Of course Byrider took no responsibility for the brake repairs at all, even though they assurred me when I purchased the vehicle it had just had new brakes put on. Well I "BIT THE BULLET" again and accepted the $150.00 service bill. I actually thought after the brakes i'd have little minor problems here and there and that would be it. I have a 12,00 car and I expected to run like a 12,00 car it didn't.

Shortly after the brake problems I noticed the transmission seemed to be slipping, I knew my extened warranty covered the transmisson so I took it back to Byrider once again. The service manager who I add wasn't much of a service to me,says "My guys can't seem to find anything wrong;but if you'd like I can send it out to be checked but if their dianogis is the same you'll be charged $48.00/hr plus the transpotation charge.

He "strongly suggested I didn't send the car away so I didn't. I trusted this guy(the service manager) I actually thought he was on my side. After being told over and over by the service manager" Trust me,i've enver lied to and never will" Man these guys are good,I was actually feeding into this bs. About three months passed and the transmission was still slipping. Finally I did the same thing I had done months earlier with the brakes. I took the car to a replica transmission shop(Cottman Transmissions) and was told my transmission was going.

I took the car back to Byrider,by this time my patience was wearing very thin with Byrider. I refused to foot the whole for the transmission. Byrider agreed to pay the labor well so I thought. They claimed to have found a used transmission for $900.00,I thought it sounded alittle steep considering they were paying for the labor. I didn't stress it since they claimed they were sending it to a transmission shop,I was told by the service manager"The job was alittle too big for them and they wanted someone to do it who had more experience then what they had".

So I dropped my car off to Byrider the following day because the outside mechanic was due to pick up my car that day. Something kept nagging at me to drive pass J.D. Byrider and low and behold what do I see? My car in their garage with their pretend mechanics working on it. When I questioned the service manager he tells me they now can do it and it'll save them a few dollars. Now isn't this the same man who only days before said they weren't capable of doind the job? Now all of a sudden they've attained all the knowledge they need to do the job in a matter of days?

By now i'm beyond angry and on top of it I get the car back and two days later this transmission goes! After doing alittle research I find out they own the warranty company and the bank. This explains why the service manager was so reluctant to send my car away for a second opinion. Why would he? It would cost the warranty company aka J.D. Byrider a couple thousand dollars. So not only did they push the transmission work off until the warranty ran they didn't even fix it right.

After another week without my car the put another transmission in,it's too early to tell yet about this one.The icing on the cake is through alittle research I found out they had doubled the price on the transmission. I phoned CNAC/J.D. Byriders manager and was told" That you're paying for the transmission and the labor and there's nothing you can do","You already signed the contract.Although he's mistaken there's alot I can do. I've contacted the State Attorney Genreal's Office as well as and attorney. This is far from over.

Had I known what I know now about J.D. Byrider I would have kept walking until i found a used car from a personal dealer.

To the great thorn.. I dont understand how you can categorize all franchize owned car dealerships or sales people into the category of rip offs, rotten, or rancid. The Jd Byrider store that Adrienne bought her car was obviously shady. But because of that, you can't necessarily say that all are bad. That's like visiting a McDonalds in Alabama and ordering a cheese burger, but theres almost no ketchup on it. Then saying "All McDonalds cheeseburgers suck". Theres just no logic in it.

I tried to get a car and i got turned down everywhere. I called the local JD Byrider in Marietta, Ohio. I spoke to a salesperson, his name was Ben. He told me how everything worked and how he could help me get a car. I went in, did the budget and got approved. I got a car and have had it since December of 01. I have never had a problem with the car or the dealership. i would sent all my friends to get a car too. I thank JD Byrider for helping me get a car!

Pattie, if that is really your name First you mention that you went to www.byridercars.com. The first thing I noticed when I went to that site is they PUMP you by saying the following paragraph.

"Guaranteed Internet Savings
Just a little bit ago you visited our web site. Thanks for stopping by! If you would like up to $250 off your next vehicle from us, just enter your information below and click the button. Then print the resulting page for your Instant Internet Certificate. Add your day time phone # and we will double the certificate value up to $500.( must be presented when you arrive. )"

Then they ask you for your contact info so one of their trained lot sharks can suck-up to you on the net until they get your phone number, Then they will more then likely drive you nuts by hounding you as to when are you coming down to see
"ALL OF THE REAL NICE CLEAN LOW MILLAGE CARS THAT WE HAVE WAITING JUST FOR YOU WITH REAL LOW PAYMENTS?" Your special and we want to be the ones that are doing what you deserve.

We all know Pattie that everybody wants a stupid SUV and we all know that everybody would RUN to a dealer that can get them a payment of less then $300 a month real fast.

I Feel that you are trying to suck-up to a JDbyrider dealer or that you work for a JDbyrider lot as a "LOT SHARK".

Just think, now That www.jdbyrider.com is posted on this Rip Off Report once a person types in JDbyrider this Rip Off Report will soon pop up.

It makes me feel so dam good knowing that all of these fast talking "Lot Sharks" deception is coming out for all to see.

Pattie if you are a car buyer from JDByrider Don't be too fast to believe everything that is PUMPED into your head. It will all leak out as soon as you used high mileage Ford Explorer takes a BIG s**t. Then someone at JDbyrider tells you hey we will tow it to our lot so we can PUMP some high numbers in you hear and that we will try to make you FEEL good and tell you that you only have to pay for half to get your SUV fixed.

You half is always more then enough to pay for the whole repair.

They will go after your check book or whack and jack your monthly payments. So enjoy you LOW MONTHLY payments until your SUV takes a big smelly s**t in your driveway.

This web site makes me feel so good, JUST LIKE SEX. YEA!!!!! NOW Pattie that you and I have and some fun, I need a d**n cigarette.

Some Good advice When Buying A Car

#6Consumer Suggestion

Sat, September 07, 2002

I want to start by apologizing for the treatment you got while purchasing your vehicle. Experiences like that sour the ability of truthful car salesmen to do their job to the best of their ability. I'm one of the truthful ones. The best advice I can give to anyone looking to purchase a car:

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH. If you're not sure what you're looking for, and you don't know what to research, then once you get to the lot and have a car picked out, make sure to get a Carfax and a report from http://www.kbb.com. Just as a note, kbb.com's retail value can be as far as $1200 (or more) too low, don't be suprised if the salesperson comes back wiuth a higher price, dealershhips don't use kbb.com. If the dealership refuses EITHER ONE just stand up and walk out. You don't want to buy from there.

2. AVOID BUY HERE, PAY HERE PLACES AT ALL COST. If you think a regular car lot will whack your head off watch out. third party lenders only allow so much to be borrowed on a car, depending on it's worth. Buy here, pay here places have no limits like that. Then there's interest. A regular car lot has interest rates going from 6% or lower, up to about 22% for people that have "hit some bumps on the road". At a buy here, pay here expect the interest to START higher than that. Don't ask what your interest rsate is going to be, just ask how many banks are used. The more banks they use, the better off you are.

3. BUY USED CARS FROM A PERSONAL PARTY OR FROM A NEW CAR LOT. New car lots have to be ASE certified for any kind of maintenance. Not to mention that they need to be certified by the automotive manufacturer that keeps their new inventory.

4. HAVE A FRIEND IN THE CAR BUSINESS. I hope I don't have to explain this.

I hope I was some help.

Adrienne, I Can't say that I know the pain you are feeling. But what I can tell you is a bunch about dirty car dealers and their deceptive tricks.

When a used car dealer tells you they are selling you a warranty watch them very close. What they do is sell you the warranty for two or three times what it should cost. Then if you have trouble with your used car, they say you have to pay half of the cost If you have what they call 50/50 coverage.

They try to make you feel good by telling you that they are paying half. What they are not telling you is your 50% is more then enough to cover the whole repair. So what you paid for the warranty is all Free and clear profit for JDbyrider.

Please understand that car dealers have been bending car buyers over for years and nothing ever happens to them. If you want to get even, send a copy of this whole Rip Off Report to the company owner.
