Complaint Review: Jennifer Powers / Jenn Powers / exquisitedanes.com / Exquisite Great Danes - Vancouver Washington

I am a previous customer and have a hard time believing anything in the above report against Exquisite Danes. The breeder lives in an area of Washington that can have terrible internet or phone access, as I have experienced when trying to contact her during my experience with her. This breeder puts a lot of love and care into the litters she breeds, during the time I dealt with her she kept a litter of puppies right in the middle of her living room, clean and well cared for. Her adults are kept in a kennel environment but that could be because she had visitors (me), she has a large beautiful chunk of land that they get to run and play on. She has handled and trained many great danes for shows, it is evident to me that she spends a great deal of time with her dogs and isn't one of those 'toss 'em out back and let 'em breed' types. I've also purchased a puppy from a breeder that has used Jennifer's studs and that breeder has nothing but positive things to say about Jennifer taking care of her female while under her care. I do know that shipping a puppy can be traumatic for a puppy, and if their immune system is down from the stress they can be more susceptible to illnesses, most breeders warn of that and have in their contracts they are not responsible for shipping-related harm to the puppy. I don't know the whole truth of what happened, I just know there are plenty of other breeders I would NEVER deal with, but Jennifer is one I would go back to again, but I would pick mine up in person, again.

You admit some of her statements are true, then say some are false unfortunately the bad out weigh everything.

You will be caught and prosecuted if you don't get your act in gear. I'm filing the same complaints with BBB, I'm also calling local authorities from Stamford PD. as well as akc.

There is too much negative swirl around you and your business...clearly a business.

Like I mentioned in my email if you had a true love for Great Danes your Facebook page would show at least 1 Great Dane, instead it's all you and your family involved in motocross...and even better the Facebook page you do have for Exquisitedanes doesn't even have a profile pic!

Try another profession seriously!

I also live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but it was a coincidence, as I don't know the consumer above.

Buying a Pet over the internet is very hard work, because of all the research you need to do and the risk of getting scammed.

After 3 unsuccesfull negociations with other Breeders (incomplete answers, test, etc), I found Jennifer through a Website that was recomending her as a responsible breeder.

Exquisite Danes and Jenn Powers (now Menning) gave us an excellent service.

She responded to all my questions promptly and good mood,  and sent me all the documentations and pics requested.

I made 2 payments, through Western Union and Paypal, and she and her husband Kyle were helpful for a succesful payment.

They sent me within 24 hours the Delta Airlines flight reservation, and my girl, Lilly (an Harlequin Great Dane) was in great shape when she arrived, as we took her directly to the Vet.

She sent me all the AKC papers, and we registered Lilly without a problem, with the form she sent us. 

The process was smooth and Jenn or Kyle always responded my emails or phone calls. 

Lilly is now 13 weeks old now, is a very healthy dog, with a great balance temperament, very familiar dog who loveess children.  She arrived almost crate and potty trained, which denotes she came from a good breeder.  She is very smart and has started to learn the sit command.

Her trainer, in the puppy class, said that she will have a great structure and her coat is impecable.  She gets all kinds of praise when we go to the vet or at the park.

I'm still in comunication with her, if I have a question.  I don't regret buying from her.

Very responsible breeder.

I'm so sorry this person above had this problem, but I imagine every service provider has a bad day at some point.

I recommend Jennifer as a Breeder and with International shipping.

Although some of the things in this report are true a lot of them are false. There is always 2 sides to every story and you can not make everyone happy. In the end Denise was paid her $2500 in full instead of getting replacement puppies. Problem solved.

She advertise her self like a reputable GREAT DANE BREEDER IN VANCOUVER, WA; BUT SHE IS FAR AWAY TO BE ONE. 1- I send her US$2,500 for the purchase of two great danes puppies 2- After she cleared my check and send me a notification about it. She vanishes for more than a month (I email her over and over, demanding her the puppies). 3- She told me that she was away on a trip helping her family in Canada, for almost 3 weeks. She explain to me that during that time she did not check her email, then she drop the bomb...that the puppies have DIED from COCCIDIA. After this she avoided my emails regarding my money. She did not one to give me back my money. 4- I was really angry. I believe that a responsible and honest breeder would never have a behavior like this. I ASKED HER MORE THAN 20 TIMES to give me my money. I think she was feeling empowered because she live in Vancouver, WA and I live in Dominican Republic (Next to Puerto Rico Island, Caribbean). 5- I Called Law Enforcement in Vancouver, WA. I send to the detective in charge all the proof that I have, emails, the notification from FEDEX receiving the check, everything. After he checks everything he agree with me that her response was not correct. He agrees to visit her. 6- The Law enforcement detective visit her at her home, she got panic. From vanished she suddenly appear, and email me that she would be solving everything with me. She agrees to send me the money in two payments. The first of US$1000 and the second of US$1,500. The second one would be two weeks after the first payment. 7- She did send the first payment (US$1000), but two month have pass and she vanish again with the rest of my money. 8- I have reported her to the INTERNET FRAUD DEPART. from the FBI, also put my complaint with BBB in USA and Canada. 9- Report her with AKC (American Kennel Club) and also Canadian Kennel Club + Great Dane Club of America + Great Dane Rescue in WA. Also many other reputable organization. 10- Not for my surprise after talking by phone with all this reputable great danes organizations, I discovered that SHE HAVE NEVER ATTEMPTED TO A DOG SHOW as she portrait herself in her web page. The worse is that by checking her dog's pedigree on her web page, one of this very important great danes organization found that she mixed the danes colors. She was mutilating the breed standard by doing this (I would never have the chance to show a dog under this not responsible breeding program). 11- Today I check her web site. It was updated, all the photos that show her face; she cut her head, this way people would not be able to recognize her. She changes her phone number. She was selling new puppies also. She told me that she did not have any litter available. 12- UPDATE: At the end of May -2009, Mrs. Powers pay me the rest of the money pending. Solving all our differences.
