Joel Lira / Lira's Landscaping was my mother's gardener. He was referred by our realtor, so I believed him to be trustworthy... or so I thought. I just found out that he has been charging my mother more than what she's supposed to pay him. I saw the discrepancies and checks written for this man, and it is unbelievable! My mother being elderly has always paid him with her checks. Unfortunately, in the past two months her memory has started to decline.
I finally spoke to Joel in person and he got very upset because he was caught red-handed. At first, he denied it then he made some lame excuses such as the bushes needed to be trimmed more which is why there are extra charges made. Why did the bushes get thick in the first place? Wasn't he supposed to maintain it so it wouldn't get thick? He also deflected the blame to me, that I needed to be with my mother more? What does this have to do with the extra charges? However you look at it, he took advantage of my mother!
He abused my mother! Joel Lira is an elder abuser! He takes advantage of them especially when they are the most vulnerable and when no one is checking. We will be filing a lawsuit. DO NOT EVER HIRE JOEL LIRA / LIRA LANDSCAPING. It's such a shame people like Joel exist in this world. He deserves to be in jail.
