If what you wrote is true, you had a bad experience. The salads should have been brought out, the burger replaced and a small bowl of sauce should have been brought to your table immediately, no questions asked and no additional charges amde. Your request was highly reasonable. To Peter, if consumers were turning away from cheese laden foods, then pizza and lasagna would not be half as popular as they are now.

First, it is unreasonable to expect a restaurant to be exactly the same as it once was 2-3 years ago. Why? Ownership changes, management changes, menu changes, personal preferences change, current health and other issues play a role ... It sounds like you were looking for a very hearty meal that was in your words "chuck full of melted cheese and covered with lot's of sauce," etc etc etc .. Did it ever occur to you that in this day and age of heart disease and concern about diet, that food "chuck full of cheese" no longer appeals to the majority of consumers? The restaurant must maintain a menu that is suitable to the majority so that they can stay afloat as a business. As for the pasta having "sauce on top," that is the common way to serve pasta in a restaurant these days. You have to mix the sauce into the pasta to your liking. Pasta that is drenched in sauce (like spaghetti-o's) neither looks appealing nor tastes good to the majority of people. The rest of your post is nonsense. If you want extra items, of course you will have to pay for them. Sauce frequently has an extra charge as stated on the menu. Some people like more sauce on their food, which is fine, but they need to pay for the extra food which they are consuming! And as for the other food items, once you realized that the restaurant just wasn't the same as it used to be, why did you not ask about the ingredients/portion size before ordering additional numerous entrees? It sounds to me like you were hoping to get the manager to comp your entire meal so you could get a freebie.
