John Robert Powers Fraud on Children Brentwood Tennessee
I first heard of John Robert Powers on the radio saying that they were auditioning kids for spots on Disney Channel shows. My dad called for an appointment and on November 15, we went and auditioned in front of a "talent scout" from L.A. and the owner of the JRP franchise location.
My brother, my sister, and I were scheduled for an appointment the next day to discuss what the scout thought of us. She had told my brother and sister that they had the looks that she was wanting and that she wanted them for Hot Wheels, Barbie, and Almost Famous Magazines. I sang at my audition and she told me that I had a very unique voice and she loved my voice and my look.
I have always wanted to sing so this was a huge step for me. I was finally getting into a company that would help me get where I wanted to be. After we met with the scout, Carol Stevens, we went into a room with another man and discussed the money situation. He had told us that money should not be an issue and wanted us to pay up front at the first meeting.
Then, doing some research on the internet, we realized that the whole Disney Channel thing was a scam to get you into their office. All they want to do is sell pictures and tuition to their "school". Read the other blogs...it's the same all over.
Basically, they had told three kids that they were good enough to be stars and wanted to help us get there. They had given us a confidence boost only to bring us down even further. This is not fair and should not happen to anyone especially young kids.
