JOSEPH, STEVEN AND ASSOCIATES Joseph Steven and Associates is the only company that is worse that the company that you hired them for! Ventura California
In October of 2006 I received a call from Joseph Steven and Associates asking to handle my collection accounts. Like everyone I fell for there fast talking about how great at what they do and how fast they will recover past debt that was owed to me.
After not hearing from them I got curious of what was going on with the one dead beat customer I had, and if any money was collected yet. Finally " Joseph Steven and Associates got back to me and stated that in order to get my money and put a freeze on my dead beat costumers bank accounts we had to get an attorney involved which consisted of giving them a $2500. as a retainer for the attorney fee's, yes I fell for it!
After getting my credit card statement I didn't realize they took out $2800.without my permission until months later because I personally do not handle my mail, the office does all the paperwork.
Months would go by before they would get back to me, and even then they would give me a run around on the progress of my case.
Now it is a year later I finnally got in contact with the lawyer they had so called hired with my money. I found out that since they stalled me for so long the companey I was trying to go after is now no longer in business. It gets worse when I was talking to the attorney in disbelieve he mentioned that he had faxed this all to Joseph Steven and Associates about 2 months ago and is also mad because he only gets paid if I get paid! SO WHERE DID MY MONEY GO !
I called Joseph Steven and Associates immediately, spoke to the "Supervisor" Heather Green and explained I was not happy and wanted my $2800. back for services that they did not render. Her attitude changed instantly, the next words out of her mouth was that I had to do all further communication by fax because I was being verbally abusive and she was going to note that in the computer so none of the following employees would give me any further information or tell me what was going on. This company is nothing but LIES !
By all the other letters I read from "Ripoff Report" it seams like the company that is supposed to help you "Joseph Steven and Associates" actually screws you worse than the guy you hired them for.

They did they same thing to me also they have a way about them to talk you into things. They got me for over $7000 if you've had any luck in any way getting your money back let me know Thanks

Through some slick investigation I got ahold of the attorney who was suppose to handle my case--he said that the judge had set it aside. I asked what that meant and he said that the debtor was sueing us and had filed a complaint. He said that he had talked with JSA and faxed the ruling to them 4 months prior to our conversation. JSA had never contacted us regarding this. We never knew we were being sued in a cross complaint so we were not able to appear in court! What makes it worse was just a few days before talking to this attorney JSA called and said they had a judgement on the case and needed $650.00 to levy the account and it would be reimbursed to us along with the $8700.00. What a bunch of liars! They now say it was a mix-up in communication and are refunding our money but want us to know that this is not an admission of guilt or wrong doing on their part. Yeah, right!! Just give me my money and I will hope and pray they are quickly put out of business as it seems this is what is underway. Good luck to you!

I get angry every time I read another account of how this company works. It is like it is happening to me all over again. You can clearly see by all the claims that this is a true scam operation with little intent to honor their responsiblities. I have not heard anything good about this company. If some people have had success it looks like there would be letters defending them. Heather Green, Brenda Powers, Tiffany, Sharon Payne, and I can't recall the others names but have kept them documented, all need to be fired. I hope they can not go into the collection area again. My husband called at one point to speak to someone and got the attorney Randy Chang who was retained to try and resolve all the complaints against JSA..He seems to be right up their alley--just a little more educated so presents himself more professional but still tries to cover up for JSA actions. No amount of talk can explain away their actions or aggressions. I will help you in any way I can--contact this site for my email.
