they paved my driveway and added a layer of dirt on top to protect it.  they said it would come off with the rain.  5 days of rain later the  top coat  started to run off and left the driveway with lines of gray running down the hill and big spots of white all over.  the sides are starting to crumble.  When I called to complain, he said I can have someone clean it with a power washed and that the dirveway will need to be sealed.  All for 400.00.  When I did not agree he hung up on me and eveytime I called back, he hung up.  stay away from this one.

This drive is a shared drive on a sloping hill that runs to both the left and right.  We at JR Paving Co. recognize that in this type of drive when wheels turn on the drive it  may cause tire marks.  This is why screening is necessary.

Screening is fine limestone bought at an additional expense not charged to the customer.  It is applied in order to protect the completed driveway from things such as applying your foot on the brake and turning the wheel.

Screening eventually runs off with help of the weather.  It's purpose is to protect new driveways.  The gray or white marks mentioned come from the limestone.

Our company offered to power wash the light marks on the drive at no additional cost.  The customer was then advised to seal the driveway in 90 days.  This is the proper way to maintain a new driveway.  This customer did not realize that JR paving was interested in maintaining the integrity of their work by providing a protective measure to their customer.

Due to the porous nature of blacktop, seal coating is used to weatherproof newer blacktop.  It also enhances the dark color that most people think of when they think of blacktop.

Had the customer understood the complete process they would have understood that there would not be any gray or white spots remaining after seal coating.

Unfortunately this customer did not realize that JR Paving was trying to help her by screening the drive.  She could not see past temporary gray and white spots that she mentioned.

There was nothing wrong with the service provided to this customer.  Multiple calls were received from this person.  We were screamed at and called names repetitively.  This customer was not satisfied  with the explanations of what screening is and why it was done.  She was extremely ungrateful.  Every time she phoned we attempted to educate her on the process of paving and reassure her that the job was completed appropriately. After about 20 phone calls where I was badgered and threatened regarding the well being of me personally and called every name in the book I terminated verbal contact with this person.

However, I did return to the job multiple times prior to these threatening calls and attempted to satisfy the customer to the best of my ability.

Did these people come to your door and say they had extra material and would give you a "great deal" if you let them do your driveway?

Because if so that is one of the oldest scams.  They use cheap material and poor workmanship where within a few days of the "job" you find out how poor of a job they actually did.   You can search "driveway paving scams" and see if any of what happened sounds familar.
