The truck in question.

1990 3/4 Ton Suburban

1. Last June I had a brake job done by

Brake Check. The service was done in

Houston. The Rear seal failed in Denver.

2. Brake Check recommended that I take

the truck to Just Brakes. They would

refund me for any service. Should only

need the seal repaired and new Shoes.

3. Left the truck in Denver and went off

with friends.

4. Got call on cell phone. Just Brakes

store manager says that the

a) Seal was bad.

b) Left shoe was oil soaked and needed

changing.

c) The cylinders that were rebuilt by

Brake Check three days ago were

leaking and needed replacing.

d) The brake hardware was oil soaked

and could not be cleaned. Hardware

was replaced by Brake Check three

days ago. "I knew this was BS"

e) Said that they had to turn drums

to get rid of Oil Soaked condition

(BS).

e) Idler arm on front steering was

bad. I had been hearing a noise from

the underside so I assumed that this

might be true.

I discussed the problem with the manager

and finally agreed to the inflated repair

bill just to get back on the road and

not spend any more vacation time that

was necessary without transportation

in Denver.

5) Received the Truck. Brakes worked

find. I paid the bill and resolved to

do my own brakes from now on. Like I

normally do. PS the undercarriage noise

was still there. Found it to be the

drive shaft idler bushing. Rubber was

bad.

6) Brake Check says that I was ripped

off but refunded me what I paid them

anyway.

7) Rear seal on the passenger side is

leaking now. Last time it was the Drivers

side.

8) Take to the NW Houston Just Brakes

store for warranty work.

9) Store replaces brake shoe and seal

on one side only. I pointed out that the

Denver shop insisted on replacing hardware

and turning drums in this situation just

last year. Store manager says that he

was able to wash the grease off the

hardware and drum. Did not have to be

replaced. "Just like I thought a year

ago".

10) Rear brakes unbalanced. Car pulls

when brakes are applied. May clear up

in time may not. I feel that brakes

are unsafe. Any one I know would have

replaced both sides.

11) Filed complaint with Harris County

consumer Fraud office.

12) Filed complaint with BBB

13) Wrote a letter to NBC. Maybe they

can do a follow up on Just Brakes.

Complaint.

1) Sold me brake hardware that was not

needed. Only three days old.

2) Most likely sold me brake cylinders

that were not needed.

3) Turned drums that were turned only

three days before.

4) Probably ripped me off on the idler

arm replacement.

5) Replaced brakes on only one side

for warranty work. 11000 miles on other

side.

Charged me $528 for what should of been

less that $200 worth of work.
