I might suggest using a debit / check card for purchases. I do not like displaying my driver's license or any other type of I.D. By using a debit/check card, authorization will be given if there are funds in your account at that exact moment. If there are not enough funds, the transaction will not be authorized. I am not sure about all banks, but mine does not charge me and type of fee to use my debit/check card.

That a person currently has funds in their account is no guarantee that there will be funds there when the check is presented to the bank for payment. Obviously a person with $500 in their account could write a dozen $200 checks in a single morning. I would suggest the following: 1) Either correct the address on your checks or on your driver's license 2) Take your check down to your own bank, cash it and return to K-Mart to make your purchase. K-Mart hasn't ripped you off, they have simply refused to accept your check. I don't blame them in the slightest.
