Kay Lynn Kennels Unhealthy Newfoundland with Behavioural issues. Had to euthanize Mount Morris Michigan
I purchased a 7 1/2 week old Newfoundland pup on 7/9/12. He was the only survivor from the litter. All his litter mates died because of Coccidia . He was also small for a Newfoundland pup.
The next day taking him to the vet he should his first signs of behavioral issues. He growled and tried to bite me. He also did this to the vet. I immediately signed him up for puppy classes and training.
I always made excuses for his behavior until he was approx 11 months. He really started lunging at us and trying to bite us. I sent him away to a trainer for 2 weeks. At that time the trainer suggested to send him back to the breeder or re home him with no children. I contacted my vet and we tried Prozac. That bought us another year. During that time we still had to be very careful around him and give him space. We continued with trainers .
We had many bites with him but never bad until he was 3. he came at me with such rage in his eyes. He bite me twice. We decided at that point he was a danger to others and humanly euthanized him.
I would not get a dog from this kennel. More and more people are having behavioral issues with their dogs.
A Newfoundland is known for their temperament. It was heartbreaking
