Took my Dodge Ram 1500 to Kelly Clark with automatic transmission shifting bad.

This was in March 02. I bought the truck new. It's a 1994. The transmission had never been worked on before and had absolutely mo leaks. $1433.00 later they had rebuilt my tranny(with my ok)and it has leaked ever since.

They have had it back at least four times to correct the leaks, but it always leaks again. Their warranty states "12 months/12000 miles.I always got it back to them under this warranty time.

The last attempt of them to fix it was 10-01-03. Guess what. Still leaks. Turns out they send their tranny work out to Cottman Transmission. When I picked up my truck this last time from Kelly Clark, they try to blame the situation on Cottman. I am now told by the service manager at Kelly Clark to take it myself to Cottman.

Oh, and on my last invoice from KC,they wrote "Cottman has issued a 90 day/4000 mi whichever comes first, warranty of leaks. This the only warranty on this repair. There are no other warranties expressed or implied from Cottman Transmission repairs or from Kelly Clark on this repair".

I guess when you can't fix the problem, just shorten the warranty and send the customer to deal with the sub-contractor.

The Kelly Clark Automotive side of the story

Mr. Cutchens does have a legitimate compliant as far as the leak his transmission devoloped after we charged him $1433.00 to rebuild his transmission. I believe his dates are correct the transmission was rebuilt 3-13-02 but he convienantly leaves out the milage of every repair to further convince consumers of his story, which at the time of the original service was 79,422 miles. Mr. Cutchens did have to bring the vehicle back several times for transmission leaks on 5-6-02 at 86,945 miles for tail shaft seal leaking 10-01-02 at 86,918 miles tightened transmission oil pan and nuetral safety switch these repairs were all done at our shop at no charge due Mr. Cutchen not having or allowing us enough time to take the vehicle back to the subcontractor. The vehicle came back on 1-10-03 at 89,691 miles for more leaks which we let him know at this time in writting on the workorder we would like to keep the vehicle another full day to road test and inspect which, he would not allow, and told him at that time time if he notices more leaks we need to take the vehicle back to the subcontractor. The last time we saw Mr. Cutchens was 10-01-03 at 98,336 miles we took his vehicle to the subcontractor there invoice states that they removed the transmission and replaced all external seals they also stated that there repair carries a 90 day/4000 mile warranty which we conveyed on our workorder to Mr. Cutchens. Mr. Cutchens believes that his warranty was renued every time we performed warranty repairs this is not the case with our company nor any other automotive repair company or dealership how ever as you can see the repair on 01-10-03 at 89,691 and on 10-01-03 at 98,336 miles were both performed by Kelly Clark Automotive Specialists and our subcontractor when the vehicle was clearly out of warranty and done as a goodwill gesture for all of the problems Mr. Cutchens incurred with this transmission. Mr. Cutchens has not notified us of anymore leaks nor given us the opprotunity to correct said leaks. If he had done so we would have worked with him just has we have done in the past. Kelly Clark Automotive Specialists is family owned and operated in Phoenix for over 44 years and has always had a 98% or higher customer satisfaction approval rating with AAA Arizona and customer satisfaction is our highest priority. Thank You for giving businesses like myself the opprotunity to give there side of the story.
