If these people are really that STUPID you're better off not banking with em anyway.
Sooner or later, (probably sooner) they would have started taking money out of your acct for one reason or another. Would you really want to deal with this kind of customer service when that happened?
It sucks you gotta go pick up your money (couldn't they just mail you a check?) but BELIEVE ME- this all worked out for the best!
Morons + your money is NOT a good combination!
If you want some revenge just drop a bag of shiit in their night deposit box.
Good Luck!

Ok she said it wasn't for fraud as she said and its just because they have a right to close accounts whenever they want. I never did anything fraudulent in my life or dont have anything negative in my credit report as I pay everything on time ( my credit score is in the 800's). All I did was open this account due to the promotion they were running. I'm in good standing with all my other banks. I just feel that key bank and specifically this women "sara" from the fraud deptartment are extremely unfair and even ruthless. I dont understand how they can just close my account with out any reason or notice at all? They are just trying to make my life really hard...

She was extremely rude and didn't want to give me any info.
- Your account was flagged by the Fraud department, of course they are not going to give you any information over the phone.
Not knowing what triggered the "fraud" alert, it could be several things.
1 - You or your wife are in ChexSystems. This is similar to a Credit Report but for banks. If you are listed in that, it means that another bank closed your account because of things such as fraud or overdrafts. It would also show if you owe a balance to the previous bank. If you are listed here no major bank will allow you to open an account for quite a while. Sometimes this check may takea while which is why you were allowed to open it.
2 - The method of deposit was from a fraudulent source, such as a counterfeit check.
3 - They couldn't verify you or your wife's identity.
4 - Unless it is an "Internet" bank that has no physical branches. People generally don't open accounts at a bank where the closest branch is 3-4 hours away. That fact alone may have raised some "red flags".
5 - Some combination of those, or something totally different.
With them not sending a check by mail, it seems that the third possibility could be the more logical reason. As they want to make sure that they are giving the account balance to the people who they say they are. If you can't convince them to send you the check then unfortunatly you are going to have to find a way to travel 3-4 hours to get the money, and next time deal with more local banks.
