As the owner of a 12 year old consignment shop and a member of NARTS (National Asociation of Resale & Thrift Shops)I can assure you that your experience is not the usual. These steps may make for a better experience with another shop: 1. Make a list of the items you are consigning. 2. Get a copy of the contract. 3. Make sure you understand how the shop operates. 4.Is the shop a memeber of NARTS? If so, they are bound by a code of ethics. Member shops can be found at www.narts.org 5. Try another shop-there are millions of happy consignors making money everyday.
