We've used Kwik Kar on Frankford for four and a half years, servicing five vehicles there. Their store "motto" is "Built on Integrity." Laughable, at best.

We have the typical oil change issues with them in the past -- over-tightened filters, dripping oil (that should have been wiped when drained)--but these are common.

Last wee, however, I had the oil changed in my daughter's Mustang. The service agent reported that he had to replace the drain bolt as the "threads are getting weak." I took the car to our Ford dealer to have the oil pan check (paying for a second oil change in the process). The service manager showed me how the pan bolt had been torqued to the point of stripping the threads by the folks at Kwik Kar. Unfortunately, I didn't take action then.

Today, I sent my Tahoe for an oil change. The service manager gave me a sheet indicating items that were, in his words, "very important to address now." The first on the list -- indicated by a huge, red bar, was replacement of the cabin air filter. I went home and called Classic Cheverolet, where I bought the SUV new. To my chagrin (and the laughter of the mechanic on the other end of the phone) there is NO SUCH PART.

Kwik Kar's "integrity" extends only as far as your wallet begins.

So in 4.5 years they never treated you like this? And now they're laughable?

Why did you keep going back if that was the case? Anyway, did they show you the air cabin filter? And what year is the Tahoe? Like another poster mentioned, some Tahoes do have a cabin air filter, so if that is the case, it's not a ripoff. Heck, maybe the mechanic at the dealership is wrong. Every car is different, and the manufacturers change the design yearly it seems, so it would be hard to remember every model from memory.
