Just a week ago my mother called me and said she was buying a bedroom set (Spent 2000 dollars) from La Maison Furnishings on Dundas St. in Mississauga Ontario.

I told her not to, that she should visit a big retailer like Leon’s etc.  She told me the "Store Manager" Jay promised that the quality of their furniture and service is unmatched. She left a deposit with her Credit Card and paid Cash for the balance.

The furniture was supposed to be delivered on a Saturday, but due to a storm they were unable to deliver.  First problem is they never called to let us know that they wouldn’t be able to deliver, so we spend the full day waiting.  We called and were told Jay was not in and that someone would call back in a few minutes (which they never did).

The furniture than came in on Monday, 2 delivery ppl, who have never done delivers before began to unload the furniture.  They were not strong enough to even lift the night tables easily and were dropping them into the room.

There was a large custom framed picture hanging on the hallway instead of asking for it to be removed the tried to move the furniture in breaking the frame and picture.

While bringing in the furniture they damaged the majority of all walls leading up to the bed room, scratched brand new hardwood floors and took a huge gauge out of our brand new oak stairs.  Proper movers would have used blankets on hardwood floors to ensure a proper job.

They did not mention that they broke the picture until I found it in the bedroom on the floor after they left.

I have been trying to deal with the store manager, but since we have paid he has not been seen.  The storeowner is giving us the run around claiming that they are not responsible for damages done on delivery and that he is unable to come see the damages or discuss the matter, only the store manager is.

I recommend NO ONE TO EVERY SHOP at this RIP OFF PLACE

I'm assuming that the the post was from the store owner, sure, fine, lets exclude the picture, how about the damage to the floors which could have been avoided if using proper procedures, the damage on the stairs, the walls...

Again consumre avoid this store, you will be left with poor serivce, agravation and a store owner pushing poor products with crappy service.. Just google it, you can read a hundred horror stories, including mine.. I like the one about the guys furniture getting delivered in a mini van :)

And a RESPONSIBLE homeowner would have cleared the path from the door to where ever the furniture was going to go. They are not going to reimburse you for the picture because it was AFTER the movers left. Had you brought it to thier attention at the time of the move then you would have had a chance. AFter the fact, then you are just looking for someone to blame for your broken picture. THEY have to assume you are just another scammer looking for ANYONE else to pay. This is a VERY COMMON scam by the American Consumers. Oftimes the moving group can take EVERY precaution they can think of, and the person that recieved the delivery will say that the mover broke something, even if they did not. We live in a nation of sociopaths. People who think its perfectly alright to screw others so THEY get ahead.
