I cannot believe that I actually bought into this whole LA Weight Loss program. But I can say that I have learned my lesson.

When I went to my first appointment I informed them that I could not afford the program, so they dropped the price some. Basically they excluded my aftercare. Then I was ready to put cash down and make a monthly payment plan, but they insisted on their CareCredit. I was not approved so they kept insisting that I get a co-signer because I need this program, my daughter need this program. So I called my mother and got approved.

Well the intial cost was around $750.00. When I come back two days later, they pull me into the office and tell me about the LA Lites. I informed them that I could not afford anything extra and plus I know my mother would not approve of adding another $2,000 to the account. I was told "Oh, don't worry about I already had them raise your credit limit."

My inital credit limit was $1,000.00. They called and had my credit limit raised without my permission first of all, then kept telling me that I need the lites. I am sitting in tears trying to tell them I cannot afford any extra payments. Before I left she rung in an extra $1,800 worth of bars, which I told her I would buy out of pocket as I need them. I was backed into a corner, pressured and told without them I would not lose the weight.

Well because of this I cannot afford food in my own house. I am trying to keep up with these high payments. I have not been to the center on three months and do not plan to go back. They are not helpful and I feel are only looking for personal gain. There is only one person that is still there from the day I signed up in February. Their turn over is high and their ethics is very low.

Something needs to be done about this. They refuse to refund the remaining bars to my account and while on the program I did not lose any weight. If any one knows about any class actions or attorney's working on suing the pants off these people please let me know!!

I would like to say a few things about LA Weight loss. I worked for this company and was trained to be a counselor and then was promoted to manager. I know how the company works and I'm not happy with how they treat customers. I do want to say I have inside information. I do not wish to be contacted and would like to keep my identity confidential. LA Weight loss makes its money strictly on protein bar sales. Every week each store is contacted by corporate to see how many sales are made. You are "pushed" to sell the bars. The higher the package the better. The higher the store sells the more money is put into the pockets of each manager and assistant manager. Counselors are not given this commission. Counselors are trained to sell the bars. If the counselor can not sell, then a manager or assistant manager is brought in. Regardless of your income and what you can afford to pay. I've seen managers make women cry and feel guilty for not buying the bars. They work off your guilt for being overweight and not taking your weight loss serious. This is what made me quit. The General Manager of one of the stores in MI had done this in front of me to show me how to get a hard sale. The diet itself does work. But if you have been on the weight loss roller coaster you should come to realize it's all down to basics. Watch what you eat, count calories and portion control along with excercise and drinking plenty of water. I was also on the LA weight loss diet but I was allowed to get the bars for free. The bars are a good snack but really no different the any other protein bar in the stores. Just read the package and find one as close the the LA bars as possible. I believe moon bars is one of them. Low calorie and low sugar, high protein. That's it. Now not all managers and assistant managers are bad and will pressure you to buy the bars. One manager I worked with did not agree to pressuring sales. The store was in a high traffic area and could get sales without trying. You ARE NOT obligated to buy the bars and just keep saying NO!! You can still join the program for 5.00 per week. But you will have to pay up front. This is the formula. 5.00 per week X amount of weeks. It takes an average of 2lbs per week to lose weight. That's at a good rate. If someone wants to lose 50lbs you divide 50 by 2 to get 25 weeks. Times that by 5.00 that gives you 125.00 dollars. I believe there are other fee's involved as well such as maintaince weeks and a few others. If you truly want to lose weight then stick to the basics. It's the only thing that works and make it a life style change, not a diet. I've lost 30lbs myself without pills or programs. Stick to your goals, make meal plans, write down what you eat and you will get there. There are plenty of free advice and plans on the internet. Take advantage of it!!
