Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went to Lenscrafters for a new pair of eye glasses. The girl asked me if I wanted to apply for a "Discount" (later to learn it was a deceptive way to describe a credit card.) She started asking me all these questions. Finally it dawned on me she was filling in a credit card application and I told her in no uncertain terms I didn't want a credit card .

I told her to cancel that off her computer and she said she did. I asked her more than once because I didn't see her click out of the page, but it appears that all she did was lower the information down to her task bar. When I left, it appears she sent the application in. A week later I get a credit card in the mail...with my credit approved for $2,500.

Needless to say I was very upset about this. I called the store and they gave me a 1-800 number to call customer service. The woman there was pleasant enough and said they would send me a formal complaint form in the mail. NEVER GOT IT. What I did get was a Thank-you very much for your concern and big brush-off letter from GE Money Bank, the credit card company. Then to make matters worse, it says feel free to contact us at the toll free numnber on your billing statement. (which I don't have....duh!)

I located the 1-800 number I originally got and now all I get is some guy who can't speak English and lives in India. I hate outsourcing. Don't American companies understand this yet? We want to speak to a person in our own country, who we can understand. He has no way to let me speak to a supervisor unless I wait by the phone for 24-48 hours. Are they kidding me?

He has no idea who the president of the company is, and no phone information so I can speak to corporate headquarters...which who knows where that is located.... what is it, a big State Secret?

Then the guy says, do I want to do feedback? This has to be a joke. I told him I'd let him know about feedback when this is all over, but since we are in the middle of all this, no way I'm doing feedback at this point. At least that is what I think he was asking me. Most of the call I had to make him spell things so I could understand.

There has to be a better way of doing business with Lenscrafters, a company that wants repeat business. Because at this point, I will go anywhere else before I ever go there again. I'm not sure they can legally send in a credit card application when I verbally told them NO and even explained why I didn't want it.

Further more, who in their right mind would want a credit card from them when their interest rates are 21.99% (that is not the penalty for being late, that is the normal rate!) I have a very high FICO score...so why the extreme interest rates?

So my complaint is two fold:

1. Unathorized credit card sent to me.

2. Poor customer service...actually none at this point. No satisfaction. No action will be taken for an employee who is doing this sort of scam and will probably do it to others. Do they get a bonus for every one they sign up for a Lenscrafters credit card?? This is fraud, especially the way she worded it and didn't disclose it was a credit card until I asked her point blank.

I saw above, where someone said Lenscrafters would gladly help someone if only they just called them. Tell me a good number to call your corporate headquarters and I will...I feel like I've been given the run-around by Lenscrafters. Why make it so hard to reach you if you have nothing to fear?

it is true - that lenscrafters does not offer a 1-800 customer service number - however - u can email the customer service folks thru the lenscrafters.com web site i know for a fact it is there - along with the address to there corp offices when i had issues - with a store - the actual email goes to the store manager - however - personally i have learned thru my on issues - asked to be contacted by a hirer level of management - and u refuse to speak to the stores general manager u may get farther 0 since it appears this girl was instructed some way to do this - and knowing that there are not huge # 's of staff at these stores - i would bet it came from the gm that is going to be calling you therefore - if u insist a regional mgr call u - at least they will know what there store associates are doing with their patients (( but who knows - it might have even come from their regional ? dam - go for the ceo also - if u feel that strongly about them actually trying to pull this scam and yes - insist that they get you a copy of that form - someone suggested above - That should say - u are not joking around -

First of all, have you even looked at your receipt?? How many pairs of glasses did you buy and what was the TOTAL COST?? The payment method that you chose was the "See Now Pay Later," therefore if you were approved for $2500 you shouldnt have paid anything when you checked out UNLESS the total cost was over $2500. When you checked out, you have to sign at the bottom of the receipt saying that you will pay the total amount due through GE Services. If you bought 1 pair of glasses than you have 3 months to pay for that pair of glasses and if you bought 2 or more pairs of glasses than you have 6 months to pay the total cost. Look on your receipt and see if you signed anything about a "See Now Pay Later" payment method plan.

I wonder how they pulled this off. They (the associates) have a form that they must fill out and that the customer MUST sign before they can process the application through the system. Since you didnt sign off on this, you should fight it to get it taken off and explain what happened. However, Luxottica doesnt have an actual complaint department within headquarters, so I dont know how much of a resolution you will get. As far as a bonus for the associate to filling it out, the company could be running a competition within its stores to help generate sales and potentially reward the stores who reach certain objectives (getting so many new Lenscrafters card members, selling so many Scotchgard lenses, etc) so I wouldn't doubt that the associate had some incentive to do so, either from the store manager or from corporate
