LHR, Posted False Negative Credit Information on my Credit Report Ripoff Hamburg New York
I was notified by an email alert from Experian that Neagative Items appeared on my credit. I had to search out this company and called them - they were very rude and I knew it was a scam because they wanted to "settle" on the phone. They also told me that it was a credit card that I paid for 9 years and just stopped paying and finally told me it was MBNA - and I have been in good standing with them for years. They have even sent me a letter to prove it.
What they really did was purchase bad debt from when my identity was stolen and someone took out a loan in my name. I fought and got it off of my credit back in 1995 and have an affidavit to prove it.
They basically lied about what the debt was in order to try not to break the FDCPA since they reported this on my credit and it's over 15 years old.
I have sent them a demand letter for proof of the debt. Now it's just going to be a fight to get this off my credit. The last time this happened it took me over 3 months to get it off. Especially since I have pristine credit.
