Based on the information you have provided, I am coming to the conclusion that this company has commited one crime already; and will violate federal law again. First, they forged a document with your signature on it. Dispute that contract. Do you have your original contract still? I hope you do, because it will be 10 times harder to prove that they forged your contract in 1994. Now, go ahead and dispute the item with whatever credit bureau they reported to. The FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) requires the company to verify the item within 30 days (possibly 45 days in some cases). If they fail to verify it, then legally the item has to come off your credit report. So they are likely trying to buy some time. If the credit bureau(s) don't take it off your report, then you can file a lawsuit in small claims court for leaving malicious and inaccurate information on your credit report. Then, the credit bureau faces a 1,000 dollar fine. Most likely they will immediately delete the neg info upon notice of you taking them to court. Then you may also sue LHR for false misrepresentation of a contract and forgery if you believe you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the contract was forged. [DELETED]if you want any help with your credit, [Place your comments below and be sure to include your FULL contact information so Rip-off Report can contact you.] I can also refer you to some free (non-profit) credit information sites that explain everything about your rights, laws, legal tactics you can use, and even dispute letters as well as letters threatening legal action. I hate companies like this. I hope you win over LHR, they really are a rip-off.
