Liberty Lighting sent us light bulbs that we did not order and were not even bulbs we could use in our shop. They would not take them back without a 20% restocking fee. They eventually agreed to waive the fee but we had to send them back at our cost. After receiving the bulbs, they filed a complaint against us with the Better Business Bureau, where we have an A+ rating that we want to keep.

When the light bulbs were received and we contacted the company, they played back a recording that authorized the shipment. They spoke to our shop manager who is in charge of customers and production, not ordering any supplies, and told him that they had just spoke to an individual about an order and they just needed the address to ship them. The individual's name they had given was the name of our owner, so he said "ok" and gave him the address. When we called and complained about the order, they said that the individual they referred to was their salesman, not our owner.
So they had no record of an order placed, just the "ok" to ship something we never ordered.

After two phone calls from different people in our company they said since there was so much confusion, they would waive the restocking fee if we would ship them back. After we paid $68 to ship them back, they filed the complaint against us for not paying for the bulbs. We checked with the Better Business Bureau in Maryland, and they are not registered with them, but they did have an F rating with them and there were 26 complaints against them.

Mr. Zach123, it is best that you don't defend this company any more. Your constant insults do nothing to defend a company that may or may not be unethical, but has at least one employee that is (or possibly they are not even with them anymore.) Your comments only make this company look worse.

I would recommend that anyone considering doing business with this company (Liberty Lighting), should see what kind of a person is defending and representing them on this web site. The same kind of irrational behavior and ugliness went into their agreement to not charge a restocking fee if we shipped back the bulbs at our cost, then filing a complaint against our very reputable company with the BBB after we did what we agreed to.

Please use discretion when dealing with this company.

I know. Three responses in months is a whole lot I know. You're right. I'm the owner of a large company wasting my time arguing with a clearly uneducated stubborn person. You think the owner of a company would waist their time with you or this? I already told you that I know the company and I know the business. So good work pi. Since I know the business I can comment on it with knowledge and since I do I'm gonna guess this is how it went (if I worked there is pull your file and give specifics so there goes that theory) but I'm gonna guess you ordered something you shouldn't ha e trying to actike the big man on the pho.e then when your bosses found out you lied and said they just sent them and you never ordered just because you can't admit you're wrong and made a mistake.

It's ok. We all make mistakes. Real men can own up to them. I'm passionate because when I was in the business people like you made me sick. Even with the recording you try to say you didn't order. So Mr holmes, I can't comment on the complaint they supposedly filed against you , but after these few short posts I don't blame them if they did because dealing with people like you could drive a person crazy. Did you ask to hear a recording or any proof? If you didn't maybe you should so everyone can get a clear answer from this. Then once you're proven wrong (I don't know this but if o had to bet..) you should get back on here and apologize for trying to tarnish a companies name because of your mistake. And again to make this clear. I do not and have never worked for liberty distribution. I've been in the business and I know the complaints and 90% of the times this is the exact case.

For a person that does not work for Liberty Lighting, Mr. Zach123 spends a lot of time defending this company, and speaks as one with knowledge of the company that an owner or at the very least a manager would have.

There is at least one other report in this site that he has responded to with much inside knowledge. The fact that he so passionately defends this company and so strongly states how the company operates, tells me that he is either deeply involved in the company or is speaking on behalf of the owner or manager.

His constant claims that my original report is a "lie", cannot be made unless he has the kind of information that someone inside the company would have. The claims I made are in fact completely accurate and cannot be explained away by constant denials by someone that "does not work for the company."

This claim he makes that he is just a disinterested party, goes right along with the questionable methods of operating that caused me to post my original complaint. I recommend that anyone that is considering doing business with this company, carefully consider whether it is a good idea. And please let your employees know that if they call for a shipping address, check to be sure an order has been placed by someone authorized to do so.

listen to the recording more carefully in the future.  Why would the be calling you to confirm someone else's order.  They say YOUR order on the bulbs, for YOU to approve a bill for payment, and thanks for YOUR small order.  Ive heard that a lot lately that people thought that it was a confirmation of someone elses order but they confirm orders with whoever placed them, not other workers there.  I understand that things get confusing over the phone, but again, dont tarnish a companies name because of an error that could have been yours, or maybe theirs, or maybe both. its not right

I understand there are some companies that might get the name of a person that works at a company (or in your case the owner) and try to send bills out and hope they get paid.  Those companies don't last long.  If people are hoping on making a business off of people just making a mistake and paying bills without seeing them is just ridiculous and probably why most of them are shut down after six months.  I know this company (like I said I dont work for them but I know of them) and this is probably the most legit company in this business.

Unlike most companies they actually do have a recording of every sale that is written up and confirmed by the shipping manager.  You are just lying if you said they had no proof of someone ordering it, because they record every confirmation call.  I truly am sorry that you all have had dealings with shotty companies in the past but like I said before dont soil the name of a company because of a mistake that might possibly be your own (not saying it is but dont be so quick to point feelings).

And about the BBB complaints, having however many twenty something complaints out of probably thousands and thousands of accounts, thats a very very small percentage. Look at Mcdonalds or Target, they all have complaints.  Yet people shop and eat there every day.  Id be willing to bet if you called back and asked for that recording they would gladly play if for you.  Sorry for your inconvenience but I know some of the people there and they really arent in the business of making people mad or putting out orders that they are HOPING will get paid.

The information on the complaint about Liberty Lighting is not incorrect. While the rebuttal was written by an individual employed in the lighting business, and the procedures explained are the same the company gave us, it doesn't make the complaint incorrect.

The fact is that we never placed the original order, the employee contacted to verify the order only did so because the name given him of the person that placed the order was the company owner's name. The light bulbs were not bulbs that we use, and the company said that if we sent the bulbs back at our cost that they would not charge a restocking fee. We did so, and then they filed a complaint against us with the Better Business Bureau. There are in fact 26 other complaints against this company with the Better Business Bureau in Maryland, where they have an F rating.

So although the rebuttal stated the order and shipping procedures very clearly, it did not show our original complaint against Liberty Lighting to be incorrect. They may have legitimate procedures in place, but someone falsified the original order, misled our employee about the order and then after agreeing to a remedy which cost our company money, stepped over the line by filing a complaint against our company with the Better Business Bureau for not paying for the products we never ordered.

This is all false.  i used to work work for a lighting supply company and when they call back the second time from a recorded line it is to go over the order that you had just placed iwth the salesman to make sure it was a legitimate order.  Once they ask the necessary questions (are you authorized, is there a purchase order number I need, approve a bill and going over the product) they send it.  Thats two phone calls in an hour or two you receive from these people talking about bulbs.  the recorded conversation is not the actual order it is confirming the order you had just placed. otherwise, any salesman could just find the name of a person there and write up an order and send it.  its to cover the company as well as the consumer.
